Because the majority of rugby fans arnt mindless thugs!?
More violence 'on the pitch' with rugby...
And... dare I say it... Rugby has its origins in the 'middle classes' whereas football is traditionally a more 'working class' sport...

God am I gonna get slated for this comment!! ;o)

agreeing but is it just that mindless violence, must admit to being rugby fan and not football, but the way our supprters act in other countries i think is appaling
i think its a lot to do with the origins of the sports, football was more the "working mans" sport where rugby was more the "public school boys" sport. i think that is now changing tho'
You also dont see many famous rugby players spread all over sunday newspapers for drugs, sex and cheating on thier beautiful wifes.....HutHum Ashley cole!!
See my post above steg
......................an old saying...................

"football is a game for gentlemen played by ruffians and rugby is a game for ruffians played by gentlemen"

lots more fun to watch though
yip Chock_Dee, sorry never noticed it when i started mine lol,
well great minds lol
Following on with this thread, I also notice that the SAME clubs, Time After Time have the Thugs Supporting them. I have visited 39 different League Grounds whilst supporting EVERTON. I will NEVER AGAIN visit, Manchester City, Leeds United, Cardiff City nor Liverpool's Ground.NEVER had a problem at MILLWALL !. I have tried them ALL at least TWICE & the SCUM has appeared every tme !!. In the late 70s to late 90s I supported Widnes Rugby Leage Club, I could go watching Eveton on a Saturday & Widnes on a Sunday them days. I have visited about 25 Rugby League grounds & NEVER witnessed more than a bit of banter, never seen a Rugby League THUG !!.
Could it be because most football players are English, whereas most rugby players are Scottish, Irish, or Welsh?
Lots of toffs from posh schools are rugby fans arent they?? I just think there is more atmosphere at a football match and singing and stuff just riles them up
No Stewey cus i think ud find that the most violent rugby players are the welsh or scottish!
we get overly patriotic with any sport that gets a lot of media attention.
notice how rugby gives a better message to kids? be good at what you do and you'll get payed for it not cheat your way to the top and get payed for it. footballers are effectively models these days. just look at a rugby player, ok so you have a few that are well groomed (drool) but non of them are so airbrushed that they fall over screaming every time they get grass on their shorts. get a grip.
Why single out rugby ? Cricket, snooker, bowls, etc, rarely see pitch invasions. I have never seen crowd trouble at my shooting club, and people running wholesale onto F1 circuits are quite rare.

Football fans are virtually 100% brainless snotheads, that's why.
'Crowd trouble at Bowls' pmsl Whiff...

'who stole my incontinence pants and where are my teeth?'
because the conversation was Rugby V Football...Can really compare the rest to either!!
they wernt singling it out they were trying to say rugby is violent but the crowds arent, football isnt violent but the crowds are. You dont see it in cricket or bowls
So stewey why is it that Cardiff city is one of the worst clubs for violence? whiffey has summed it up very nicely, I am a football supporter and must just say it is far safer now than it was in the late 1960s and 70s
