the other day a young lad reversed into my audi a3 on a somerfield car park. he was keen to sort it out and pay private he only passed his test ten days before the incident. i agreed to let him pay and his dad called the next day to tell me which garage to go to. i booked it in there. the garage told me bring it tomorrow and then called to say two weeks later.
i'm worried he is pullin my leg should i notify insurance just in case. is there a legal time that u have to report it!!

I'd get back to him and say you are more than happy to deal with it privately but for peace of mind could they put it in writing asap. Have they told you who the lad is insured with?
I'd also give the garage a ring and ask if they have been told who is footing the bill. Record the conversation.
As the lad has only just passed his test his insurance premiums would rocket if they knew he'd had an accident. I'm wondering if this lad is insured.
Let us know how you get on.
i would inform your insurance company just in case.

hi all just to note that i fell for the trick too his dad interfered with it and sort of took over!! well it was booked in tothe garage for this monday the 4th and i had a call off the garage to tell me hadnt paid any money so i couldnt take it. when i called him he tried making excuses so i have just decided to go through insurance i notified them at the start so i won't have a problem now. anyone else who says they am going to pay private my advice to u is steer well clear especially indians lol
I do hope you have also reported this incident to the police. People like this deserve the book being thrown at them and the fact that the incident occurred on private property should make no difference about him being prosecuted.
