Phone rings like an American!

Landline was switched over from Onetel to TalkTalk. Now when someone rings, the bell sounds like an old Americam movie and not the usual 'ring ring -- ring ring' but a 'rinnnng -- rinnnng'.! Have connected wired phone to mastersocket etc but no difference. TT say " the sound that alerts you to an incoming call is not related to the service provided by TalkTalk" but AFIK the line is LLU. Any ideas as to why please?
