I bought a paper shredder in December last year and its now stopped working. I have the box and the documentation. What am I entitled to?

Sympathy?
The retailer to put things right. Either a repair or a replacement would be reasonable. You a not automatically entitled to a refund.
I agree with Hammer, but also consider claiming under the guarantee if there is one and if so, make sure you advise the manufacturer before the guarantee period expires.
I managed to get a replacement under the two year guarantee for an electric shaver which failed towards the end of its guarantee even though I did not notify them until shortly afterwards.
