If you were to store 750.000 pounds of gold in a building, how big would the building be? I do know that a gold bar is 400 oz or 12.5 kg., but I don't seem to find the dimensions to figure out the space. thank you much. before anyone wonders why, that is how much gold was plundered by the Spaniards from the Americas, according to Hugh Thomas in A History of the World, which i am currently reading.

I think the density of gold is something about 18kg/l. thats about ten gazillion stone/cubic farthing.
The total volume would be 17.64 cubic metres so it would fill a 4 metre x 4 metre room to a depth of 1.10 metres.
Have you been any where near Heathrow Airport lately ?
