I can provide a little information. Franz Hug was a Swiss gentleman who led the 1936 11th Berlin Olympic Games parade as Flag-Thrower. This was an exciting visual spectacle, it seems, with a large Olympic flag attached to a pole being thrown many times high into the air and caught without a pause in marching. He was also an expert with the Alpine Horn. Around the same time he formed a band called "Franz Hug and his Merry Swiss Yodellers". Their performances consisted of Franz Hug throwing flags and blowing his horn, which caused a group of 22 men and women to yodel.
