stevie, im not aware of any specific vitamins to take when depressed, but taking a multivitamin wont do any harm im sure, plus a decent diet.
There are several vitamin and mineral deficiencies that can cause symptoms of depression. If you happen to have one of these deficiencies then a supplement will help you. If your depression is caused by something else then supplements will not be the answer.

B-complex vitamins are essential to mental and emotional well-being. They cannot be stored in our bodies, so we depend entirely on our daily diet to supply them. B vitamins are destroyed by alcohol, refined sugars, nicotine, and caffeine so many people may be deficient in these.
St.John's Wort (cheap in ASDA) is very good for mild to moderate depression. As ever, not to be mixed with other medication without professional advice.

St Johns Wart is meant ot be good - not actually a vitamin more a health remedy. You can get from holland and barratt
Is it safe to take B vitamins if taking Paroxetine (ie Seroxat) ?
It is important to make sure you have a good multivitamin intake, ideally through eating a healthy and varied diet. However, as depresssion can often rob you of your appetite, it wont hurt to take a multivitamin and mineral supplement.

Also make sure you keep your omega 3 s up through oily fish, nuts and seeds.

All the best.
Oh and I forgot to say........ DONT take St John's Wort when you are taking an antidepressant, it can result in potentially dangerous toxicity.

Over use of B vitamins can also be toxic too. Everything in moderation eh....
