LOL...I didn't think anyone else knew this. Do you know where it orignated from? I was raised hearing the song a bit different and pardon my spelling, here goes...Once there was a china man, his name was Chinca Chula Chapan, his ears were short and his nose was long and this is the way he walked along...chinca chaloo chaloo chapan, ellepee ellepee chinca chalalpee chinca chaloo chaloo chapan ellepee ellepee china man. Then the poor old man had died, in his coffin he did lye, sent the coffin to Japan and that was the end of the china man. Chinca chaloo chaloo chapan, ellepee ellepee chinca chalalpee chinca chaloo chaloo chapan ellepee ellepee china man.

I am sure through out our family we have tweaked the song, especially the ears and nose seeings as though it makes no sense. Well that's what I got, hope it helped...if you ever find the origin or correct lyrics please forward them over. Thanks
Yes my Aunty taught me this back in 1968
There lived in china a very fine man,
His name was chicka Chou chi chow,
His legs were thin and his feet were small,
This little man couldn't walk at all,

Chicka Chou chi chow chickeroni
Ok Ora iti biti catapu
Ala bala fad and ok Dora
Ikibi, ikibi oh koh koh
The way my mother used to sing it to me ... funny how something like this could stay in my mind for 60 years ...

In China there lived a little man
His name was Ching-a-linga, Ching-a-linga Chan
His legs were short and his feet were small
This little man couldn't walk at all.

You go frisco, cardio, galloping awalloping a Chinee-o

Miskah Chai was short and fat
She had money and he had none
Under her window he would go
Strummin a little tune on his old banjo

In China there lived a little man
His name was Ching-a-linga, Ching-a-linga Chan
His legs were short and his feet were small
This little man couldn't walk at all.

Miskah Chai had a washboard tall
Let it fall on Ching-a-linga Chan
Let it fall on Ching-a-linga Chan
That was the end of the China Man

You go frisco, cardio, galloping awalloping a Chinee-o
Not the way I heard it...(forgive spelling, it's nonsense words?):

Once there was a Chinaman,
His name was Chinkachaluchapan.
He hair was short, his nose was long,
And this is the way he walked along:

CHORUS: Chinkachaluchaluchapan, alapeealapee chinkachalalapee,
Chinkchalucaluchapan, alapeealapee Chinaman.

At last as old man he did die,
And in his coffin he did lie.
They sent his body to Japan
And that's the end of the Chinaman.

CHORUS
My father taught me this probably 55 years ago. The words I knew were:
In China once there lived a funny man
And his name was Chikaraka Chu Chai Chan
His arms were long and his feet were short
The poor old man could hardly walk
Chicalaka chu chai chai chicalora bungi ora ally wally wack
Oko boko hit him on the boko
The poor old man came rolling back.
My father taught me this when i was 6yrs old, which he learned from the priest at the school he attended in Italy:

In china once there lived a man. His name was Chika Belly Chu Chi Chan.
His Legs were tall and his feet were short, and this china man couldn't walk at all.
CHORUS: Chika Belly Chu Chi Chan chika lorum, hap chika lorum walk walk walk. Hoko choko ai didiyadiko bit a by, bit a by, see him go.

His servants used to carry him about, and on his back he used to shout. Here he comes and here he goes, the china man with a funny nose.
(REPEAT CHORUS)
I grew up with a different version:

There was a man and China man
And his name was Licka Lacka Chee Chaw Chan
His head was big and his feet were small
And the poor little China man couldn't walk at all

Oh licka Lacka Lee Chee Chaw chi chic an or um
In I or um padda Wadda why
Oko boko padda wadda why key
Omo

They took him up to the top of the hill
And they tossed him about with a good free will
They tossed him here and they tossed him there
And they tossed him into a bamboo chair

Chorus: repeat

I have no idea of the meaning, I just grew up with the song. Can anyone enlighten me?

what i can remember as my grandfather used to sing to me.

In china once there lived a great man.
His name was Chikaraka Chee Chai Chan.
His legs were long and his feet were small.
The poor old man could barely walk at all.
So they chained him to a great white wheel, and,
rolled him off the top of a hill.

Chikaraka Chee Chai Chan Congalore,
In (three syllables) and Iti Witi Wang.
Oko Poko Iti Gitti Gatti Go.
Edipi Edipi Chee en Ko!

I feel like there is a line missing from the beginning. And I'm missing one word from the chorus... Ive been trying to remember this rhyme for ages, but, this is the best I can do as its been nearly Fifty years. But, I know its close. I see some similarities to some of the other posts. while others are way out there. lol. Good luck i hope you find what you are looking for.
