Im 16 and think that i would like to work part time in a hotel as a chamber maid, can anyone tell me what this job entails, how much it pays and even whether a hotel would consider taking on someone of my age?

The job usually involves going round all the rooms and cleaning them (dusting, hoovering, making/stripping beds, cleaning baths, showers and toilets). You need to be thorough, hardworking and honest. The money isn't very good, probably minimum wage in most hotels, but it can be good fun when you're working as part of a team and may lead to other jobs such as waitressing, reception or bar work. I was employed doing similar work when I was 14.
Pretty much as Eels describes, it's hard work, particularly if you have to clean an entire floor yourself. The money is minimum wage but if your in a large hotel you may have the option to "live in". Remember too that if your in a modest sized hotel in a holiday town then the work may only be seasonal. On the plus side Jobs in the hotel trade are easy to come by, particularly in the large hotels.
