I went and watched the play in Stratford upon Avon as part of a study class and loved it. I also watched the earliest version of it on film can anyone tell me when it was made and where can I buy a copy. Thx

There is the David Lean1946 version with John Mills and Valerie Hobson which you can get from Amazon on DVD. Filmed from September, 1945 to April, 1946 at Denham Studios and on location around London (Rochester and the Thames Estuary) at a cost of �385,000. There is also one made in 1934 directed by Stuart walker with Philip Holmes as Pip but I don't think you can get that on DVD or video.I think the David Lean version is the most popular one.

I t was the david lean version of it thx alot. And i'll enjoy oliver twist very much as well thx!
Earlist version on film was made in 1922 - directed by AW Sandberg - It was a silent version filmed in Denmark as Store forventninger.
