Phonecall from insulation people re loft insulation.
Had this call so many times. Told him nothing wrong with our loft insulation.
Asked him to remove our number from his list.
He said no, no, no. I asked him are you actually refusing to stop calling me. He said yes.
I asked him again to stop calling me. He again said no.
I told him I will hang up when he next calls.
What would you do regarding this.

As soon as you know who it is, put the phone down.
Don't get into a conversation with them.
Can you not block the number on your phone ?

I'll look into blocking it.
loud whistle by the phone?
If it’s your mobile then add his number to your contacts under the name INSULATION, or whatever, then when he next rings and you see the name come up just don’t answer it.
i go along with jno - a loud whistle by the phone....
If the call is on your mobile or home phone number and you are registered with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service).
https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/
then report the call.

Block it but it can take around 2 week's so I'd also do what snowball says. They can get round blocking but it's worth a try
I never answer a number not in my contacts unless I am expecting a call
I have had a BT 4600 call blocking phone for nine months and not had one spam call since then.
i get some, but its getting rarer, thank heavens
On the odd occasion when I have had some spare time Ijust keep them talking. Just let them start the spiel and put the phone on the table.

They soon get the hint.

Or, as suggested above block the number if possible.
Tell him you live in a ground floor flat!
Brilliant Dave lol!
I agree about the call blocking phone. Best £40 I ever spent, I'd recommend it to anyone who uses a landline.
Tell them the call is being monitored by the police.
That has worked very well for me in the past. If someone refused my request over the phone not to ring back I think I might lose it. I admire your self-restraint
What I do with my landline is let it go to answerphone (every time) and if it's someone I want to speak to, I naturally pick it up, otherwise I don't and even if the cold caller leaves a message (very rarely), I never pick up !
//loud whistle by the phone?//

An Acme Blunderbuss, the old-style school whistle, works wonders for people who invade my privacy like this.
I still have my Acme Thunderer from when I used to teach games, early on in my career.

I keep it on my keyring.
Tell him you haven't got a loft, you live in a flat,
