My eyes water terribly when I’m outside in cold or windy weather. Tears run down my face as if I’m crying. It’s embarrassing. Is there any eye drops that would stop my eyes being so sensitive. I’m 68 yrs old.
A normal reaction which i usually no big deal, but if it bothers you, one can buy artificial tears from the pharmacist and put a couple of drops in before you go out.
I had the same, optician thought it was most likely to be narrowing tear ducts. Showed me how to massage from the eye down the nose.
After quite a long time I realised it was rarely happening any more.
Thanks sqad. But I don’t need any more tears. I need less. My face gets soaked. Fine when it’s warm. But when it starts getting cold they just run and run. It’s only done it the last couple of years.
The idea of drops is, to my understanding, to try and hydrate/lubricate your eyes before you hit the cold air/wind, to try and prevent them going in to tear producing overdrive (caused by the cold/wind) in the first place.
I have tried a lot of brands over the years and have settled with "Systane Gel Drops"; make sure you get the gel drops and not just the ordinary "Systane Eye Drops".
Do that and also wear some wrap around sunglasses in the wind. Get some light ones, no need for dark glasses, just something to protect the eyes.
I had the same and eventually had surgery on my closed tear ducts but mine was tearing all the time and not just outdoors. Keep your eyes hydrated and protected.
Watery eyes.
I’m ok indoors. As soon as I go out ime cryin like a baby. Can’t stop the tears. Hate it. Plus it ruins my foundation. Only wear a bit for rosacea.Always need tissues. Taken all antihistamines. Sprays and tablets. Nothin works. What can I do? Any help please. Thanks Abbers. Luv JPT xxx
