I planted a potato that was sprouting in my veggie basket at the start of lockdown.
Today I dug it up and now have 32 baby potatoes from one supermarket potato.
I did it is an experiment as I’m not a Gardner by any means but I’m really surprised at what I’ve managed to achieve.

Well done, quite a harvest.x
That’s great, MM. I tried to grow some tomatoes. I seem to only have dandelions.

I know woofgang and all from something I was going to dump
Ohhh...your very own little baby potatoes. I bet they will be lovely.
What variety of potato was it, MM?
There's a lot we could try, given the enthusiasm.

I don’t know Tilly they were sprouting and I thought why not let’s see what happens
I have done lettuce, onion, leeks and celery sometimes the second growth on the lettuce comes up a bit bitter. The citrus and cherry are fun but no guarantee of fruit and they have to get huge before they do. If you can get them, unroasted peanuts in their shells will grow too. You split them out of the shell carefully and plant them, they are fascinating, the peanut plants make long green things like air roots but they go down into the soil and that's where the peanuts form.

In my side garden which I spent the first 5 weeks of lockdown clearing, I have tumbling tomatoes, spring onions, lettuce, radishes, cucumber, courgettes, beetroot, peas, cabbage, edamame beans and sweet corn and strawberries.
Not sure what will actually come to anything but it’s exciting going out every morning to check them
At the beginning of lockdown I thought I would never learn to play Piano.
And four months later, I haven’t. :-)
As our summer holiday was cancelled, I decided that, this year, I'd have a go at growing tomatoes. They are doing really well and it looks as though it'll be a bumper crop. I am really chuffed!

Home grown potatoes are lovely. What are you going to eat them with?

Your potatoes sound mouth watering and boiled with some butter on will taste delish.
We dug up a couple of potato plants this afternoon.
A bit of chard, lettuce, basil, corriander, chives, beetroot, mange tout, courgette and tomatoes. Have just had a salad to die for. The various tastes are unreal.
I would love to offer this to anyone who says .. " I dont like salad".
Martin had you cut that single potato into a few slices before planting it, you could have had hundreds of potatoes !
I normally grow some toms in the window boxes but was too late this year getting seeds planted. Might try a few and see what happens.
Mamya, thanks for that video. I'm going to have a go at some of those ideas.
Tony .. to late now for seeds. But if you have any old potatoes that are sprouting, get a builders bucket, drill a few holes in it. Some compost to half fill the bucket..
and just stick two spuds in it. Once they come through, fill the bucket to the top with compost.
.. xmas spuds sorted !

Alavalaf did I read that if you plant under black plastic you don’t have to do the up filling. Does it work?
