Whatever you want to call them. If you post an OP and create a thread, do you feel that it is your thread?

I don't - some do.
Nominally it would be my thread, but I would have thrown it open to all to comment therefore apart from the usual ways I have no further control over the content.

That's how I feel, Mamya and Andy. Some seem very precious about it or feel it is a big personal achievement to get a lot of replies.

I just enjoy seeing how a thread develops, once the question has been addressed, of course.
In my experience that is the general unwritten rule on here yes.
Only to the extent that I feel I should select a Best Answer at some point.
Most days I only post one thread (the same repetitive one that seems to infuriate those who don't cone on it) - answers range from zero to (pick a number,I don't keep a tally).

We have over a decade or so reached a sort of unwritten protocol which works well overall.
Prudie // In my experience that is the general unwritten rule on here yes. //

In my experience, the exact opposite is true.

Hardly anyone comes on and refers to 'my thread' - if ever I encounter it, I am delighted to shoot it down for the incorrect assumption of 'ownership' that it is.

When I write an article or review, it is my piece, or my opinion, but it doesn't 'belong' to me in the sense that I have any control over the reactions to it, or can infer that people can only respond in a way that I deem to be acceptable.
it's your gift to the world.
It's mine if I write it but feel free to comment, even if it ends up all about you, whoever you are. X
Well you probably don't go on the threads I'm talking about then Andy, I've lost count of postings such as:
Sorry to digress on your thread
If you want to discuss that start your own thread
Sorry to interrupt your thread (insert name) but how is your leg/wife/dog (insert another name)
Come on (insert name) let's you get up to 100 answers
Yippee that makes 200 on my thread
etc

jno - // it's your gift to the world. //

Not really, with the exception of one blues magazine for whom I write for free because I like the music and the magazine, I am paid for everything else I contribute professionally.

No, I do see them, and ignore them.

The only ones I shoot at are ones where people say things like "You came on MY thread and said this …" - that gets a response because the assumption of ownership is used in order to tell another AB'er - often me! - that they can't say this or that - and of course, they can.
barry, if you were to mention this thread on another thread and mention the person who opened it, would you say

A thread about Opening Posts, Ops. Lead Posts started by barry 1010

Or
my thread about Opening Posts, Ops. Lead Posts

?
I don't much care what is written on it, but I consider it my thread and will watch it closer than another thread, to see what's happening with it.
I don't often start threads, but when I have, I have never referred to them as 'my threads' because I don't believe that they are.
I cry when no-one answers mine. Happens quite a bit.
I cheat and answer myself Spice.
So do I, to be honest, mamya, but it's not the same.
Always when my thread is languishing, there'll be one of those 'what's for dinner' jobbies with 100+ answers. Oh well.
Always the Bridesmaid ;-)
eem to have put a damper on this one between us. ;-)
