Yes I Am An Idiot

Yes I must be an idiot,
I just don’t get it over 22,000 deaths in England due to the virus,
And the topic for discussion by the cricketing bodies,
Is the possibility of games against India and Pakistan,
In less than 6 weeks time,
Surely we have more sense than to allow this?
If it does go ahead and more deaths as a result of this we would be back to square one.

Jordy you are not an idiot -just someone without a 'filter' who often posts what a lot of people are thinking but dare not say -then you get deleted lol! There are over 30,000 UK deaths now and I think its disgraceful that any sporting events should take place -how many people contracted the virus by going to football matches and horseracing in March? That's what...

Is that the little diatribe that was removed Baldric?

just to add that the England cricket board have set up a whole new format of the game this year - nobody wants it but the administrators, but the idea is that it will be on the BBC rather than on a pay channel so the public will again be able to watch cricket.
They've paid out a fortune to get this going and desperately need a tour by India, which is always a big money-spinner. But even if it goes ahead, it's hard to say how much money it will spin if it's played behind locked doors.

Jno's link seems to have nothing to do with " . . . the possibility of games against India and Pakistan, in less than 6 weeks time", as referred to by JB9.
England's next fixtures were to have been again the West Indies next month

but they've already been postponed until July at the earliest (if they're played at all), with the West Indies team having to undergo a period of isolation and with the matches being played behind closed doors

England have no matches scheduled against Pakistan until 30 July (after they're scheduled to play Australia) and nothing at all in their diary against India until a T20 World Cup match (in India) on 4 November.
So I still don't understand what JB9 is on about!

LadyCG:
Sorry, there are no direct flights from the Uk to Leipzig/Halle Airport. You'd probably need to travel via one of Berlin's airports, or (if you could accept Ryanair, via Dresden from Stansted).
If you need more help planning, I suggest posting a separate thread in Travel. (It helps me to know where you're starting from too!)

true, Buenchico, I can't see any India tour planned though I thought I'd seen a reference recently. They may be here for short-format matches in September. I doubt Pakistan's test series in July-August will go ahead as planned, but who knows, the virus may vanish as Trump has predicted.

it looks as if they are indeed hopeful of getting test matches under way by early July, at two grounds with onsite hotels.

People, you can't keep hiding away. The only place that you see SD is in the supermarket/shop queue. You don't see it anywhere else. Once inside, the SD Mafia direct you round the store but never say anyhting to shoppers brushing past each other. Lots of shops and supermarkets are busy all the time with people coming and going. Tesco have said that their sickness absence rate has fallen during the lockdown - and these shopworkers are working alongside many shoppers all the time. The lockdown must end now. It isn't necessary.
