Atheist, Theist or Agnostic, whatever you are, have you ever had what could only be described as a, "Spiritual Moment?"
Not a question to criticise, just very curious, as I have come across people who would appear not to believe in anything, but often have a story to tell.

I am an atheist BUT I have had several 'spiritual moments' ...no problems as I see them as precognitive moments and have lots of stories to relate!

IMO this is nothing to do with religion or a 'god' whatever it is.... I know this a human 'knowing' and is intrinsic to the human psyche. It's natural it's not a 'being' directing things. I'm happy with that because it means to me that some people are more in touch with their spiritual side...not a deity that is make belief.

Dunnitall - Thank you. Very interesting.
Three or four times recently I had what can only be described as a 'surety', a 'knowing' that certain things are supposed to happen and are part of a larger pattern. I can't really explain that but again it had nothing really to do with an identifiable deity, but it was intense and the feeling is clearly imprinted on me,plus some things that happen in life are so huge and heavy that you wonder how it can just be casual and incidental.
Thanks Theland x

I find these stories all of the time.
Lots of people don't mention it, unless the conversation is, "safe," and not threatening, and there is no danger of a fire and brimstone sermon waiting in the wings.
I have my beliefs, but I respect those who have none, but still find the subject intriguing.
For example, Deja Vu.
A sensation of a physical shove in the back towards the chapel at the hospital I worked in. I think my subconscious needed a time out. It had an amazing modern stained glass window and the sun was blazing through it. The wash of colour was glorious and I felt I could draw on the energy. I just sat quietly soaking up the colour nothing Christian going on just a moment of calm.

Watching my mother , who was on her death bed, sitting up and asking her parents why they were there was an odd moment and made my neck hairs curl a bit!!
Question Author
Rowanwitch - Yes. These moments occur so often. Around trees and wooded areas, sort of connecting with nature.
Apparently, there is a therapy called wood bathing or some such name, walking in bare feet on the grass, absorbing the atmosphere. Probably got the wrong name. Help?
Actually mallyj...that seems to happen rather a lot or at least is documented as such. Xx

A bit disappointed, that lost my mother in 1993, and father in 2005, but afterwards never could remember any dreams about them.
These days, often have silly crazy mixed up dreams, and regularly remember bits of them. Daft eh?
No, not daft Theland.. Quite normal! Memories and dreams may have some face value but they're deeper than the oceans
I sat with my mother, in her last hours, when she was semi-conscious and had been unable to talk lucidly for some days. She suddenly raised her head from the pillow and clearly asked her aunt Liza, who had raised her as a child, but had been dead for many years, how she had got into the room. She told Aunt Liza to stay where she was, and not to go away, to wait for her because she would be ready very soon. Chilling.

Chanel5 - Similar stories in my own family. Dying aunt in hospital, sat up and said, " Going home now."
my bed bound son is walking & convinced/determined to beat his illness. On Fridays visit he said he feels "the Lords arms wrapped around him". He was never relious nor baptised due to my athiest OH.
Question Author
Tambo - Delighted to learn of your sons progress.
Yes, even keeping a completely open mind, who is to say?
son has returned to original hossie after 4 others. He has sole ensuite spacious room, far superior to any private rooms my OH had & sons is free. His treatment must cost thousands to NHS. Doc says no cure just care & IV blood, protein feeds & physio.
My best wishes to you both, Tambo.

I get 'spooked' quite often. Not a spiritual thing but a sort of 'who's there' feeling.
We were once looking at a beautiful bungalow which I fell in love with until I entered what had been the bedroom of the last occupant. It was freezing and very different to the rest of the rooms. We didn't buy it.

My best 'spiritual' moments have been on my frequent whale encounters. Listening to an Orca 'talking' is magical, uplifting and life enhancing.
I asked son if his cause was poisoning, due to mouth foam & diarrhea. He thought it might be due to embalming fluids (fomaldihyde) he applied to cadavars as undertaker. Scuse spellings.
^ different from, not different to! ^ Tut!
