for my mums funeral, just not sure what is appropriate,
- don't mind poetry or other, any ideas most welcome, need to do something sooner than later..

Christina Rossetti's remember is a good piece of poetry https://www. poetryfounda tion.org/poe ms-and-poets /poems/detai l/45000 You could then go on to speak about a few anecdotes of when you remember you mum holding your hand and when you made each other smile.

Get it down on paper. Doesn't matter how good or bad at this stage. Once it's not a blank sheet staring back at you then you can then be critical, cut the bits that seem wrong, or put things another way. Add bits wherever it seems appropriate. Maybe bring back things you previously cut. Etc.. Gradually it comes together.
As maggiebee says, emmie, just speak from the heart. You no doubt have some precious memories of your mother that you can relate to those gathered. They will realise just how hard it is for you to stand up front and providing you keep it to a reasonable length of time, it doesn't really matter what you say - as long as it is heartfelt. Commiserations and best of luck.

Emmie - hope you are ok? Still thinking of you xx
I put this poem in Mum's order of service sheet for the thanksgiving for her life (funeral) It is called: Feel no Guilt in Laughter - you may think it's appropriate?
Feel no guilt in laughter, she knows how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that she's not there to share.
You cannot grieve forever; she wouldn't want you to.
She’d hope that you would carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared,
The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you, a word someone may say ...
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day,
That brings her back as clearly as though she were still here,
And fills you with the feeling that she is always near.
For if you keep those memories, you will never be apart
And she will live forever - locked safe within your heart.
