Can a mind exist independently of a body?

was once a question i had fun with at uni, but 10 years on, one of my more delusional patients asked me the same question out of the blue.

ain't it just! are you enjoying it? and also::: have you got a view on my original post???

really enjoying it... its a crisis team so its different all the time. i'm not sure about your original post so am asking some of the G grades what they think
Yes - but only in the brain. There is absolutely no objective evidence to suggest otherwise.

Excellent answer El D, but my question probably is lacking in that it didn't ask for a more emotive answer, and a more philosophical one.

IN A PICKLE

i'm greatly indebted to you for your clearly honest  and ingenuous answer. i hadn't anticipated an answer as worthwhile as that when i asked the question. you've humbled me somewhat. would like to know more about your group and the way it works.

I once met a guy from Queens University Belfast, who asked me the same question on a ferry on the way to Larne.

He said that when you go to sleep at night you can give your brain a task so that when you wake up in the morning you will have the answer.  Try it, you might get the answer to your question
