If this is truly the one that was in the news, then the barcode doesn't look too bad to me and I am fairly sure that a good forensic examination should
be able to crack this mystery.

She sounds a real one Mickey.

MM..........I hadn't realised that this woman has a history of making dodgy claims in the past....do you have a link ?
she tampered with scratch card Mikey..in your link !
No Mikey, just your post, there's someone on here an expert on Links he should be here shortly.
mikey, your link says she claimed to drop a scratch card in a puddle
it would save camelot a lot of trouble if they changed the rules to 'damaged tickets are void'

Question Author
Ah !...thanks MM...should have gone to Specsavers !

I guess if its really true that she faces an appearance in the Magistrates Court for theft, that will help to concentrate Camelots mind !
After seeing a picture of the ticket, I hate to say "told you so"

mikey I agree, on the picture in today's Daily Mirror the bar code is almost complete. I am sure it will not be hard to reconstruct it. Possible nothing more than a UV lamp will be needed.
I don't know what info is stored in what part of the barcode, but there seems enough there to get most of it. And amazing how 'all' identifying parts are unfortunately gone. Very unfortunate if she really did have two mishaps, but highly suspicious; I think it naive to believe it until they do their forensics on it.
The only thing I'm a little unsure about is how someone who, having realised they were in an area where an unclaimed fortune winning ticket was sold, could identify the exact shop such that their claim wasn't immediately known to be fraudulent. Surely common sense would dictate claiming not recalling which shop you popped into that time ?
Camelot confirmed that the ticket wasn't necessarily bought at the shop that has been in the papers and the news, they just used it to highlight the missing ticket in worcester.

//it would save camelot a lot of trouble if they changed the rules to 'damaged tickets are void' //

It would , however I don't agree that they should .

I often buy a ticket , put it in my pocket and on occasions , only remember about it along with other stuff , days later .
In the interim my trousers could easily get put in the wash , without the pockets being checked . ( which has happened in the past ) .

I'm sure this and similiar , happens to tons of people - so if i've got a winning ticket and it's able to be confirmed by camelot , why on earth should i or a n other , lose out?

They pay themselves plenty of money to run the lottery ( with little effort given, their captive audience ) - they can easily afford to keep that service- and instances like these are extremely infrequent in any event
Old Geezer, the claims started only after Camelot had released the name and address of the shop where it was bought.
I think her photos in the Sun/Mail tell you what kind of a woman she is like.

In the Mail, the shopkeeper where she bought the ticket says nobody has checked his security cameras, strange.
This is from the link from the suns story at the top of the page.

\\Camelot yesterday confirmed it has never said the winning ticket was sold by Ambleside News. The shop was merely chosen to advertise that the winning ticket was bought in Worcestershire.//

Dave.
Also in the Mirror, they washed 4 lottery tickets various ways and in all cases the date, bar code and numbers were still visible.
