PPI, Life Insurance, Surveys, Loft Insulation Company's etc. etc.

I used to just put the phone down but, the past few weeks I have been having a bit of fun if I am not busy.

My 1st is to say to the person asking me to take a Survey is, ''Only if you sing me a song first''

My 2nd to the others is ''Sorry to busy making love to my niece/cousin''

Or, ''sorry busy at the moment, can you give me your home tel number and will call you later tonight''

Its funny to hear their responses!

Say 'thanks but I'm really not interested, thanks for calling, goodbye.'

I just don't understand the mindset of people who think it amusing to mock others doing their job or worse be rude/blow whistles down the phone.
...Ouch!!

Each to their own EcclesCake,

But invading/disturbing your privacy in your home is as bad as cold callers which has now been banned, and I have no sympathy for them.
I had a friend who used to say -
"Oh! I'm so glad you called, I am sitting here all alone and feeling so lonely and depressed......." Click!

If I don't recognise the number,
Or it's 'Number withheld' I don't answer,
Simples!

/But invading/disturbing your privacy in your home is as bad as cold callers/

with respect, I would suggest that if you have a telephone or a door bell you have compromised your levels of privacy
Same as EcclesCake
I have caller id so don't answer. I couldn't give them any grief as I'm just thankful I've never had such a terrible job.
Agree with Eccles.

Let's not be rude. People are just doing a job on minimum wage (try watching the call centre)

If you dont like it: register your phone number with MPS or just say nicely 'no thank you' then put the phone down.

I read in the paper the other day about the guy who bought himself an 0845 telephone number for around £10 which he gives out as his phone number to organisations. (He has his regular land line number for friends and family). Now when he is called by any business, he keeps them on the phone as long as possible as he makes money from such calls
I say sorry i cant help you im afraid, but thank you anyway.
I give a little to the Red Cross and was foolish enough to also give them my phone number. I wonder do they know how annoying it is to be called and asked for more?
I don't like them anymore than most but do try not to be rude or flippant as I have known people who had to do TeleSales to keep a roof over their heads.

I have to listen to the start of automated calls for a few seconds as I get them from the Hospital re upcoming appointments.
if i dont recognise the number i dont pick up
/I wonder do they know how annoying it is to be called and asked for more? /

Yes they do sandie

I have measured and reported it to them - and that bit wasn't news to them

the quandary is that that sort of campaign raises a lot of money although i would argue it does more damage in the longer term

Rest assured Sandie, there are people working on more acceptable ways to raise the money in a more 'ecological' manner but it's not easy to fly in the face of the short term numbers
SandY ... sorry!
I know they have a job to do (and a cr@ppy one at that) but I do get a bit miffed when they won't take No for an answer.
