I use a sniper because Im usually at work or in bed when the auction ends so the sniper gets in a final bid in the last 5 seconds, as it is legal, free and available to anyone I don't see it being unfair.

Is It Fair To use* An Auction Sniper?
I thought you had to pay for auction sniping??
could be pricey if it over-rides max bids
Question Author
Im using this one https://www.myibidder.com/
perfectly fair.
Tamborine you put the max you are prepered to bid and the sniper will not go over that without you putting in a new higher bid.
I've always used a sniper, never cost me anything to use it.

Eddie, I think Tambo means that you only get a certain amount of free snipes, then you get charged. I know this is the case with some snipers but I think mine is free, well it certainly appears that way.
Now and as has been for some time, its the only way to have a chance of winning Ebays so called "auctions" for most items.

If you put in an early bid, whats the point , youve effectively bid against yourself and raised the price, snip snip snipe, its the only way.

Ebay has become a joke , I've found things cheaper on normal retail sites, I only use it for obscurer hard to find things I need
Ratter you can just out your max bid straight on ebay . It will only show the current price not your maximum.
I use Goofbid. Works well for me and seems to be free so far.
If you outbid my max bids you vould be paying over the odds

Eddie, //Ratter you can just out your max bid straight on ebay . It will only show the current price not your maximum.//

I dont really understand your comment, confused.
frankly, I wouldn't use ebay for high value sales. Gum tree bidders pay more
Question Author
Tambo, //Gum tree bidders pay more//

do you really think so, why would people pay more just because they are using a different auction site? Im not doubting you, im just curious.
Could be because ebay charge for reserve prices
say you are willing to pay £50 for an item that starts at £1. When you put in your max bid of £50, it will show £1 and if no-one puts in any more bids you'll get it for £1. This will be the case whether you do it when there is 7 days or 7 seconds to go, whether you just do it on the site or use a sniper. (which is why people are saying just put your highest bid on ebay). However, because of human nature, people don't put their max bids in till nearer the end, which is why a sniper can be used (for example if i were willing to pay £50 i might put in £30 to see how it goes, then increase to £50 if someone outbids me) it's just human nature. If everyone just put in their max bids to begin with, what eddie is saying would work, but they dont

Bednobs, I still think there are crossed wires. I use a sniper to place a bid for me when I am not available to place that bid, in that respect it works perfectly well.
no crossed wires on my account ratter. What eddie is saying is why use the sniper, when you see something you want, put the amount you would have put into the sniper, into ebay itself. It wont show to anyone else what your max bid is, and it makes no difference whether you do it at the beginning of an auction or near the end, if someone wants to pay more they will
I never bid early. I believe it can push the price up, with others putting nibbling bids in to see my maximum - and if I'm outbid it encourages me to bid again.

I like to decide my price, set up the snipe and ignore it until it's finished.
Question Author
Ok, im a little slow, I understand what eddie and bednobs are saying now.

Yes, I use sniper to get a bid in, in the last few seconds to avoid being outbid by the latest bidder.
