Specifically which medication are you asking about?
depends on your metabolism i think.(which varies with age lifestyle etc)

if its a drug like pantoprazole which my gp told me not to take with food then a couple of hours.

It's actually just a herbal remedy (a little known antidepressant called "kanna") it won't "harm" a person on a full tummy but is said to work slightly less intensely! (as a note to any members if u do try kanna do NOT take with other ssri's ever!!!)
I would also agree that 20mins to 30 mins after taking the drug would give the drug time to be absorbed from the stomach lining.
I have no knoweldge of this product, but generally speaking take on an empty stomach means 30 minutes before food or two hours after eating
any medication taken on an empty stomach.i'd leave at least an hour.i take 12 tablets every morning but none have to be on an empty stomach.if in hospital you're given something to take on an empty stomach, they wont let you eat.
