Tax proposed on mileage

The Government is proposing to turn all roads into toll roads by taxing mileage. Has this been tried anywhere else? Did it Work?

I dont know if this sort of scheme has been tried any where else, but i agree with spammylou its absolutely barmy it would end up just the same as maggie thatchers introducing the poll tax, people will not be pushed around like this. Not everyone has a high powered job getting mega bucks for thinking up such ridiculous ideas as this. "What is this county ending up like". Why is it always the drivers who get hammered!:-)
