I watched a film about a barnsley brass band during the time the pitt closed. is it a true story?

If you mean 'Brassed Off' then it was a fictional story but very much fact-based around the time of the 1984 pit strike and mine closures. A superb British film and very emotional in parts.

Grimethorpe Colliery Band were thinspiration for the film. It happened - they were laid off, the pit was closed & they did win the championships. The band is still going & they are fantastic.

A brilliant film...best line 'bit clumsy with the crockery, your Sandra' btw in the scene in the band's rehearsal room apart from the recognisable actors all the extras are real Grimethorpe Colliery Bandsmen
