Well, I've done a search and other people have posted similar requests on here, so I suppose it's OK, so here goes.

My friend is running the London Marathon this year to raise funds for Arthritis Research. Those of us who have arthritis know what a miserable, debilitating disease it is, destroying quality of life and making you old before your time. It affects all areas of your life - work, relationships, hobbies, even sleep. Something as simple as getting dressed in the morning can be a major achievement.

Please could you consider donating just a couple of quid via her JustGiving page. At least go and take a look: www.justgiving.com/RachelAllen2012

This will be the third time Rachel has done the Marathon, so she'll definitely complete it!

Thank you so much.

Had a look at her website. Shes doing very well isnt she. Ive bookmarked it and will donate soon. I have arthritis but still do lots of walking and hoping to do the York 10K so I know what its like. I would never be able to do a marathon, so good luck to her x
A very noble cause that I already support as my late mum was crippled with arthritis

What surprises me is that you have a friend

Mrs O, you really know how to call a spade a spade dont you. My son does the Great London swim (amongst others ) and raised about £1600 last year. he is doing it again on his birthday May 26. I never bother to ask for sponsers though as I do so many things throughout the year, I find I cant keep expecting the same people to donate. So when I pay to enter I always put a bit extra on. I feel I sometimes want to do the things just to satisfy myself that I can do it.

Thanks both for your kind words - arthritis is a real swine of a disease, so it's good to know that people care.
TOH - good luck with the York 10k, that's brilliant
Mrs O - lucky for you that I'm having a bad knees day today, lady. Why, if I were ten years younger.....
<< shakes stick as Mrs O disappears over the horizon >>
TOH - kiki started it. She was horrible to me the other day...insinuated I was incontinent.
Don't be fooled by her sweet old lady routine. She can be horrid to those who, like me, are much younger ;-)
TOH - good luck for York. I've never been a runner and am full of admiration for those who can run

Mrs O - no, no, no, no, no, there's been a terrible misunderstanding. When I typed Tena Lady I had the wrong glasses on and I meant to say, er, what a tender and kind lady you are. Yes, that was it!

(Phew, got out of that one neatly.)
run Mrs O. ?? No I shall just wobble along from beginning to end.
It is a good cause. I'll give a few quid later today.
Don't want to be seen as blowing my own trumpet...but. Just added a tenner.
Not a fortune but it's the thought that counts.

Sandy, thank you so much. That really is very much appreciated.

Thank you for your sponsorship, whoever you are! I've been feeling out of sorts with my knees and lower back really acting up today, so your kind donation has really cheered me up.

Rachel doesn't actually know that I lead a double life as Kiki-frog on AB, so I had to text her and fess up.

Thanks again. x
I see you are a cheeky monkey today. If you dont ask you dont get. Havnt done so yet but I promise I will do.
Question Author
TOH - yes, being Bet Lynch was becoming a bit of a strain. All that hairspray was giving me a headache. Being a knitted monkey drinking tea is a much easier life. I though the latest sponsor might have been you, but evidently not. I wonder who it was? You will let us know when you're doing the York 10k won't you. x
Question Author
Just want to say a huge thank you to the AB folk that sponsored Rachel for the marathon. She completed the marathon, achieving a personal best time, and raised over £2,000 for Arthritis Research UK.
She did very well. A friend of OH did it too and came 91 out of all that lot. Time was 2.35 I think. How do people do it ?
Thank you to Rachel too for raising the money for such a worthy cause which may help me as I get older ( I hope ) x
