Can I ask what the benefits of wearing an AIRCAST boot are please after ankle surgery. If you are given one to wear for example what exactly is it's role when walking and what complications could come of not wearing one.

Thanks

It is more comfortable and more flexible than a plaster cast......that's about all i can say on the matter.

Not wearing one .....or a plaster cast would result in delayed, non or mal union of your fracture.

I only ask because my orthopaedic surgeon said I should be wearing one after surgery and when I was sent home from the hospital I was not given one and told to weight bear with crutches - which I am slightly concerned about seeing as the boot is there for a reason. I think I will call and check the 'facts' and see if indeed I am supposed to have it and just wasn't provided one.

Thanks Sqad
