How does he feel about me?

I recently met a guy, after being single for a few years. Being a bit rusty at the dating thing, I can't figure out what he wants. Originally, I think both of us totally expected our first meeting to be a one off, and not hear from hear each other again. But we text each other every day several times a day, call each other and we have met up a further twice in the past few weeks, and it has been him who has initiated the meetings. We have much in common, and make each other laugh when we are in each other's company. And it turns out we have both been single for an equally long time.

I don't want to ask him where he thinks we are going in case I scare him off, but I want to know if he wants this to be a proper boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, or just a bit of fun. I just don't see why he'd be texting me every day if all we are is a bit of fun. Any advice would be gratefully received!!

Sounds like a promising start , you can talk and you make each other laugh that is good very good. Just play along with it . Why not ring him and suggest a place to meet and see how he takes it, in his situation I would be delighted that the other party had taken the initiative for a change. It is not all the man who makes all the decisions now you know it is 50/50 .

you dont say how old you are so I guess you are under 30 ,you have plenty of time just enjoy having a friend if it leads to more then good if not you still have a friend.
You've met up 3 times?

Just play it by ear....way too early to decide.
Maybe he might want you to show you are interested also by not letting him do all the running ?

Clearly if he is keeping on touch, and so often, then he enjoys your company. Why do you need to know more ?
\\\this to be a proper boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, or just a bit of fun\\\

Is there a difference?
Why cant you just go with the flow and see what happens for the time being?
Friends with benefits.

Very promising start.

This, in my opinion, is how a relationship starts.....enthusiasm :-)
sounds like he is just as happy and apprehensive about a new relationship as you are.just enjoy the journey wether its a short hop or a long trip.as you get to know each other more you will become more aware of how each other feels.the secret of every relationship is communication.i wish you love.
Don't overthink things - just enjoy it.
I agree with eddies ask him to go for a drink or something casual. It doesn't always have to be the man that does the asking

Well, I have asked him out next weekend, and he's said yes. Don't know how enthusiastic the "yes" was, as it was by text, but I suppose he wouldn't have said yes if he didn't want to. I know I sound like a teenager, but I am actually 29, just have been single for so long I've forgotten what to do! :-D Thanks everyone for their advice!
angi21 Well done ! I bet he is as pleased as you are.
He is texting you every day !< your words> . That means he is thinking about you every day !
Just look at the obvious This Guy Cares About You !
I wouldn't rush it, just take it at the nice pace it's at already - you're both finding your way. If you enjoy each other's company, leave it that way for now, and see what develops - as sqad says, you don't have to give it a label.
I would like to tell you what most guys want from a relationship but it is a family site. Modesty forbids!
I'm glad you said MOST guys, JB.... :-)
I agree id see him more before asking just relax and enjoy.....x
If you are a good cook, invite him for dinner keep it simple....and relax as others have said. Just let things "nurdle" away......don't push it.
MAYBE HE IS SCARED INCASE YOU TAKE CONTROL OF HIS LIFE AND NOT ALLOW HIM OUT LOL
