they ask your religion on the form... now my family background is COE and I have been christened, but i do not attend church myself and am not really a true believer. What should i put??
No - but you'll burn in hell!
i dont see why, it should matter,
The truth....
I worked as a TA in the nursery that was attached to a Catholic Infant school and there was no problem with me not being Catholic; many of the teaching staff weren't Catholic either but a willingness to support the school in their Catholic ethos would probably be essential. Not sure how much of this would apply to admin staff though, probably a bit more relaxed in their requirements for these staff.
It used to be the case, many moons ago, that you couldn't teach in a Catholic school unless you were actually Catholic. I could understand it if you were applying to teach RE but things have probably changed by now.
Isn't this a form of discrimination?
If they have two equally qualified candidates. One Catholic one COE...they will pick the Catholic.
I am not a Catholic but taught for years, here and abroad in Catholic schools, primary and secondary, mostly staffed by Nuns. I was made to feel most welcome and those yearsw were probably amongst the most relaxed of my career.

Yes ummmm, i think you are right!
Will put CofE and keep all fingers and toes crossed!
Job would be ideal for me as it is term time ony as well!!
When answering the question asking for your religion, I'd put "none". That would be the honest truth and if you don't get it then you'll never know if it was a problem or if you were unsuccessful for other reasons. But at least if you are successfl you'll not have to pretend about anything.

Oh, and thanks for all the replies xx
If you do get it watch out for their saint days. I taught typewriting for a while in a Catholic school, many years ago. I arrived one day to find the school completely empty. No-on had told me it was a holiday for them because of one of their saints (can't remember which one). I thought aliens had landed and taken all the kids away (come to think of it might have been a good thing if they had) (joke).
My daughter is at a catholic school - she is not catholic and know that a few of the staff aren't either. A pretty strong understanding of Catholicism is required, which is hardly suprising and they are expected to participate in mass etc.
If it is a non-teaching post that you are applying for then I would imagine your application would be based more on merit than religion. The whole catholic education ethos seems much more relaxed in terms of embracing other beliefs .
Good luck with the application.
I've known non RCs in convent schools - they're usually specialised in science & arts. Good luck
