so can you receive something at the door look at it and say no I want to return it, or is this just for substitutions that this return system is allowed ?

I want to buy some flap jacks to send to the front line they are on offer but can sometimes be too close in date to make the journey, So fancy ordering and see what the dates are?

can you not go to the shop?
Don't bother with flap jacks, get one of those foil wrapped jamaica ginger cakes and a carton of long life custard and send that.
*imagines the mess when someone sits on that*

well I am buying 24 flap jacks ...and i'm on a diet lol
thats why I like to go to shop as I always look at dates and get the ones that will last longer, pickig things from back of shelf
I think we'd all better come around to your place and help you eat them, get the kettle on what.,,the?
they will only have a best before date on them anyway they wont go out of date, only meats and dairy stuff have use bys on them
Why not put a note on the order telling the picker not to put them in if they are beyond a certain date. There is a space for notes. Then if they put them in and they are not right you can complain and get them taken back or your money refunded. They are very good. They refunded money to me as soon as I complained.

gran do you like flap jacks then? I have some home made jam here, the kettle's on we just need some scones or something if someone could pop in on their way, i do live in cornwall just over the border from devon so chances are there are some scones around some where, everyone take your shoes of, last one close the door.
well i have sent several cakes like that and cartoms of custard to the troops, they arrived fine, this was before the show box idea, desert storm it was, just put them in a cardboard box. Sent miniature bottles of whiskey inside a roll of toilert paper and that went down well too!

If you're gonna get em from Tesco I sugest you get a full shop. There is a delivery charge so whether you spend a £ or £90 they will charge you the same.
Phone Tesco Grocery direct, explain your predicament and ask them for advice,
08457225533 - between 8am and 8pm. - good luck.

thanks jem
I often just put a note on saying 'only deliver if it is in date until.....'
I've always found everything in date. on the rare occasion that its NEAR a sell-by date its put in a blue bag,(for identification) the driver tell you about it & its printed on the invoice. If you decide to return it the driver makes a note of it,on his digital machine & within 3 days its debited to your account.
There's such a lot of hooey about OOD good - It rarely happens.
I've had my shopping delivered by Tesco for over 5 years now (260 weeks) and have only had 2 probs.& they are getting better all the time.
I can't tell you about the other co's.
