Here is a recent question where most expressed a similar level of revulsion to me, yet Burglary still needs mutiple offences before jail is even considered. Why is it such an underated crime, in my view it's equivalent to rape yet it usually goes unpunished. I have in the past suggested a 10 year jail term for this, with predictable whinning from the criminals friends and I stand by that.

I actually think it's a good idea...
Wat re your thoughts on robbery r1geezer as this is a 'personal burglary' and what about someone breakin into your car which is a "motor burglary' ?

To people who have had their space violated, damaged, unspeakable acts performed in their home, it seems like a rape. Why are lefties so unable to empathise?
unspeakable acts? How many people commit suicide and self harm and self destroy themselves and every relatioship after a burglary?
I don't know what it's got to do with being left or right-wing. Burglary ought to be treated more seriously ,yes, and deserves imprisonement if it were possible.I know people who have been burgled and they are really upset and quite rightly so. I just wish you hadn't likened it to rape which is a much worse offence,as is a lot of violent crime, and should be punishable with life imprisonment.
I've been a victim of an attempted rape and of burglary. The latter was much easier to deal with.
R I Geezer. Why do you call anybody who doesn't agree with you a Lefty! I would rather have my home burgled than raped. I would never get over being rape. I have said I think that burglary is a serious crime and I know from the experience of close friends how violated they feel. But it comes nowhere near rape.

This has nothing to do with my politics. It is how I feel!!

well greeby on robbery and breaking into the car both simlar yes, 10 years each, no problem.

Unspeakable acts? I'm taling about *** in your bed when they steal your DVD player to flog down the hot shop, what where you thinking of?

I'm not saying it's as bad as rape but it comparable in the harm it does, just get's treated as a minor offence, I know people who have had to move afterwards, who have had their life turned upside done because of some sub human slime.

Lefties are the ones that always say things like "if that happenned to me I'd beat the crap out of them" - then when someone actually does that they side with the villain, QED no empathy, none.
If you didn't swing violently to conclusions, and make ridiculous comparisons, I'm sure your arguments may be better received and discussed. It's good to feel passionate about something but entering into name calling does the point you are trying to get across no good at all.
It's why I generally avoid your threads Geezer. Don't worry I won't bother again.

where have I name called?
"resident criminal loving lefties"
Phrases like this don't exactly engender people into taking your points seriously.

im guessing the starred out word was sexual act or going to the toilet in your bed both of which would leave dna leading to the capture of the criminal but which is purely in your head as most criminals especially those on addictive class a drugs who broke into your house gagging for the money to sort out their fix would just be in and out and going to the toilet or having sex in your bed whilst the drug monkey is on their back screaming at them would be out of the question.

It was sh1te, what's in my head? did you read the thread, a member of this very site had this happen to them.
/// Why is burglary treated as a minor crime? ///

Now that all depends on who is burgled, if it is an old person that has had their small flat burgled and the burglars got away with the persons life's savings, then it is minor, the police may just give out a crime number and not pay a visit.

If it is the large Supermarket that has had a non expensive item shoplifted, then 3 or more Police vehicles will attend within a few minutes.

But if it is a stately home and the thief has got away with one of the many paintings on the walls, then one can expect the top brass, numerous road veicles and maybe an helicopter thrown in, the crime will also hit the headlines in the newspapers on the radio and on TV.

Minor crime? You must be joking.
I know someone who got burgled and received a picture in the post a few days later of their toothbrushes up the offenders behinds. Disgusting eh?

Jake

for heaven's sake - don't confuse the ranters and trolls with factual information and sensible comparisons!
