By the way, the link above doesn't contain the joke itself because frankly, it IS tasteless in the extreme...however, the Daily Mail published the joke in their coverage:
everyone has that moment in daily conversation where they want to say whatever thought has entered their mind but first must ask if it is appropriate. even free spirits become entangled in these social constraints. luckily for forensicators, i.e. humorous interpretation performers, these boundaries are somewhat muddied and can be tip-toed, or rushed,...
I dunno Boo, I've never found Ricky Gervais's stand up that funny so his jokes wouldn't put me off.... I don't think I've ever been put off by some bad jokes by a comedian, my favourite comedian is Bill Hicks and he could sometimes skate a bit near the mark and there's a few bits of his stand up that I don't find that funny (randy pann the goat boy springs to mind), but overall I enjoy/enjoyed his comedy and still find most of what he says very funny.
That 'joke' about Harvey wasn't the one that offended me, jj.
It was the subsequent one..........something about KP having to employ a minder to try to stop Harvey f******g her...........
The targets of the Maddie jokes are Maddie's parents (not little Maddie). Aren't they fair game for jokes (given that some people think they should be imprisoned for neglect).
The targets of the Baby P jokes are the cruel parents, who deserve to be ridiculed.
I find Family Guy utterly hysterical and that also can be pretty sick. Snags and I were talking about a story we read on the internet the other day where a dog waited 12 years outside a hospital because he used to accompany his master there for dialiasis and then one day the master died and the dog just kept coming back and waiting... until he got hit by a car... I roared with laughter! I felt sorry for the dog but I could see the humour in waiting all that time and then getting hit by a bloody car!
I also genuinely can't say without listening to what Boyle actually said, whether I would have laughed or not... I may well have... I just don't know. I know some of his stuff is not tasteful but humour is subjective and not a moral highground. (Unless you find Harry Hill funny which to me is just distasteful in the extreme).
do you think the beeb should apologise to me? there was a female black comedian on (i think it was stephen k amos show). she said that she is getting so desperate for a date that she is now shockingly considering going out with a white guy.
can't stand the plastic person that is Katie Price, BUT, for Boyle to get a cheap laugh at a disabled child is beyond contempt, thats not funny it is sick. Boyle should be made to apologise and been banned form the box.
