and the bbc gang in attack found this on the web

In a media world defined by choice, the BBC licence fee is an outdated compulsory subscription model that should be scrapped. How can we keep justifying this outdated TV fee?

The media environment is defined by choice. But the one element that’s missing is the choice to pay the licence fee or not.

We are forced to pay the licence fee by law, and thereby forced to pay for the BBC, despite alternatives being freely and widely available.

And as technology delivers alternative ways to watch TV, so the fee’s justification crumbles

can you imagine having to pay for the mail newspaper when you go to buy your guardian.
it is just the same as being forced to pay for a left wing biased tv channel that a lot of people don't want or need.

the entire bbc hierachy is driven by greed, corruption and secrecy it is just like an old boys club .

"the entire bbc hierachy is driven by greed, corruption and secrecy"

Your evidence for this?
The Licence fee allows programes to be made, without having to be reliant on advertising, as such this enables programes to be made that otherwise wouldn't. Some of these progammes such as the David Attenbourough ones are tresures. It also allows the UK to promote advances in technology and reach out a hand across the world.

Suu Kyi said that the BBC was her life line during her imprisonment and she isn't alone.

ITV is practicaly unwatchable now I for one wouldn't want the BBC to follow suit
Surely the licence fee can be reduced by half now that Jonathan Ross is no longer at the BBC.

"The licence fee is small price to pay for what the BBC delivers"
exactly what do they deliver??
repeats, repeats and more repeats about time we had a choice wether or not we want the bbc,we very very rarely watch anything on the bbc, so by choice we have sky tv and we pay for that service, dont see why it cant be the same for the bbc, pay to watch it as you want and only if you want to.
far as im concerned legalised robbery having to have a tv license when you dont hardly watch it!
It's a legal requirement to have a licence if you're going to watch tv. Why should the lettered be sweetened.

If its such an outdated model why does most of Europe still have licence fees? Would you prefer the American model with advert breaks before the titles have even finished, breaks every few minutes from then on and product placements in between.

coobeastie they don't even send you an sae, the phone number was an 0845 number and after speaking to them they then wanted to come and search my property.
so what is the point in speaking to them if they do not believe what you say.

if they have a tv detector van why the need to search my property
You might like to think of it as: the licence fee is the tax by the government (in common with many other governments) on the use of receiver equipment; the BBC is funded by the government as the producer of broadcast material. The illusion that the licence fee goes direct to the BBC is there to underline the fact that the government (unlike in many countries) does not dictate what is produced.
And as for the quality of content, I believe the BBC compares favourably with any of the digital channels (sport, films ad nauseam, american imports of dubious quality and repeats). And as for ITV - enough said.

geezer why have you got a new name ? you only got a temp ban ?

other than a letter they never bother me, the last one that called i laughed at when he started the threats and i started taking pictures.

never had any bother at the house since
I'm happy paying the licence fee. I think it's good value for money and the BBC does make most of the decent stuff on telly at the moment.
ITV on the other hand is aimed at those who have IQs similar to their shoe size, whilst channel five is for those who think iTV is a bit too 'highbrow'!
