well I never saw this coming! http://uk.news.yahoo....i-pirates-6323e80.htm

I have mixed feelings on ransoms being paid, but am delighted for them and their family.

what went wrong with that link?

Sorry! We couldn't find the page you requested.
Ah, we'll let you off :-P
The link is no good
Is that the couple who were taken from their yacht? Good to hear that they're free.
I guess you have to think of ransoms as a crude form of local tax, sara - if you don't want to pay the tax, stay away from the country.

the 2nd link works.. although it was the same as the 1st!
It's good news..Only thinking the other day what had happened to them.
Money is only money, lives are worth more :-)
the first didn't have an L on the end
A million dollar ransom. Wonder who paid it?
Question Author
jno, quite correct!

Naz, thanks ;o)

mightyWBA, spot on.
I've never had an ounce of sympathy for them.
They were repeatedly warned before they set off on their fateful journey.
I'm afraid I can't feel any emotion for this couple they knew this part of the world was dodgy, and yet they still tried to sail past even though these scum can stop and board oil tankers, they only had themselves to blame and no ransom should ever have been paid even if they are Brits. At least you know your taxes helped to pay for this.
I agree with mrs, o - not only were they warned but I heard that the Navy offered them a night escort on that particular bit of coast, and they declined. I'm glad they are free, but there was something foolhardy in how they got into that mess in the first place.
Question Author
I wonder if they can knock a book out in time for Christmas!

I agree, they were stupid but they paid a hefty price.
When they rake in thousands of pounds in interview fees and/or a book deal/film rights, I wonder if they will repay the money?????

Gawd, I am cynical
...and if I am cynical (moi?) there will be money in a film....
Question Author
you're both right.. maybe they will repay the debt.
That would be a good name for a band - The Cynical Sisters lol
