Why is it we heard very little about this pro-Israeli rally that took place by the English Defence League (EDL on Sunday?

Because of the EDL's support for the Jews, is the Media frightened that it might put the EDL in a better light than they wish it to be?

Judging by this link it would also appear that it is not only the media who are getting a bit jittery.

/// Camped outside the political centre ground, this is a large swath of the electorate, a people who believe they have been robbed of their birthright and who are in search of community and belonging. Many are traditional Labour supporters." ///

/// Many working class people appeared to be turning to the far-right cultural movements that are sweeping across Europe, he warned.///

"Because of the EDL's "support for the Jews"
I think you need to learn the difference between "support for the Jews" and "support for the Israel".

Please enlighten me.
The people in the UK who are most vociferous in their support of Israel are the Ulster Loyalists.
They are well matched. Both the Israelis and the Loyalists are murderous scum. The EDL will have a long way to go before they sink to that level.
I'd be surprised if any of them knew where Israel is. They're just the same BNP losers under a different name!

Just try and query their intelligence, and name call them 'losers' and maybe you can pretend they don't exist.

I presume you know very little about the EDL except that they belong to the dreaded 'Right', so they belong to the opposite wing of the political scale than yourself.

Or maybe you follow Islam, then you could be excused for fearing them.

After all this is what the EDL is all about, the only voice that the ordinary person in the street has of trying to stop the frightening rise of Islam in this country.

It is not allowed to be openly debated, or curbs taken to control it, so is it any wonder that groups such as this will continue to spring up, after all what other voice have those who show concern got?
AOG not all israelis are jews, not all jews are israelis.
The reason we heard very little is because most normal people are not in the least bit interested in the rantings of a another fascist minority. They are an irrelevance.
AOG, which paper(s) do you read? This rally was covered across 4 columns at the bottom of page 7 of today's Times (headlined " US rabbi praises 'patriots of England' at pro-Israel rally"). The EDL itself got a whole two and a half pages in the same edition. The paper also published the article quoted in the Independent [youir link]
AOG, I don't pretend they don't exist, but they're still a bunch of racists who will turn up anywhere to have a go at people with the wrong skin colour.

They'll be on BNP duty next weekend!
how can EDL be classed as BNP when the main speaker and 1 of the main men in the EDL is a SIKH???

EDL allows anyone to join and go along, any race or religion, they aren't racist but they are against extreme radicals.

there was an EDL by my work a few months ago to stop council give the go ahead on a super mosque on a site of a factory that's been closed for many years, but the main reason for the rally was that there is already mosque less than 500 yards away, why should Dudley have 2??
...it's because the other one isn't big enough!
Why would the EDL turn up to demonstrate against the building of a place of worship? Are they usually interested in planning law, wilkesneil? Their "main reason" was that a mosque already existed nearby. What reason other than the main one did they give ?
Has the BNP changed much since it altered its constitution so as to admit 'foreigners' into its ranks?
Don't know if the BNP has changed much since its constitution was changed, somewhat reluctantly. Its leadership remains the same and seem to have bowed to the judgment in order to ensure the party could keep going as a political force.

That one Sikh at least would be against 'muslification' is not altogether surprising, given the history of India at partition, if nothing else. There wasn't an awful lot of love between Moslems and Sikhs then and many Sikhs left what was to become Pakistan. Why was that?

if actually read my reply, it does say there is 1 already 500 yards away....
Atrocities abounded on all sides during Indian partition.
This story was well publicised.
There is a wealth of difference between a Jew, an Israeli and a Zionist.
If you ever take the trouble to LISTEN to what Ahmadinajad says then you will hear distinctly that he uses the adjective ZIONIST not Jew.
The E.D.L's purpose in supporting Israel is for no other reason than to try and invite and incite Muslims to attack it, that's what extremists do.
And when sleighted, cry foul and say poor me, they're picking on me, they're bullying me, etc etc.
wilkesneil, I did read your reply and therefore knew that there was one 500 yards away. And why, do you think, do they want to build another one? Will you always object to there being two places of worship close to each other? If your real complaint is that there are too many Muslims in the community, it may be that their now wanting a second mosque is evidence that you already too late in making that complaint. We may guess that the first is not now big enough.Or it may be that it's for a different sect, in which case there must now be enough of that sect for a new mosque to be built.,.

And what were the other reasons for the rally ? You described the proposed mosque being 500 yards away from an existing one as being the main reason for the rally. What were the lesser reasons?
Why did the English Defence League hold a pro-Isreali rally???

A little out of their remit, surely? Shouldn't they be focussed on 'defending England'?

All part of their responsibilities, we have all seen the placards reading 'death to the jews', that are waved by the Muslims on the streets of England .

So it is obvious that the Jews also need defending , along with any others who are hated by Islam.
