How many more deaths and horrific injuries to our young soldiers, are our 'American Puppet' politicians prepared to accept before they bite the bullet and withdraw from that hell hole called Afghanistan?

The Canadians are doing it, and the Dutch have done it, why should we be left to take on even more responsibility?

Perhaps becaasue we have a bit more responsibility than them.

You cannot just pull out of a country you have invaded, all hell will break loose. It is quite apparent it is Camerons intention to get out, but it cannot be at any cost. Can you just imagine the lefty rants on this site alone if our trops pulled out and then the Taliban reaked their revenge on anyone remotely connected to a foreign force.

The number of deaths here are actually very low. OK, that is of very little comfort to those who loose a brave relative. However no one can say that when they join up they dont know the risks. No one is forced to join up, it is a choice thing - and many do enjoy it for a variety of reasons.
Afghanistan is not a hell hole either. Certain places are not good but noot the whole country. Have youever considered a job in the hype media ?

The difference is that the British were part of the invasion with the US. The Dutch and Canadians joined later as part of NATO to help clear up the mess.

For the Dutch to leave is a redeployment. For the British to leave it is a retreat - an admission of defeat.

if every death or injury would have been reported of soldiers in the second world war we would all be talking german now..there is a job to be done, yes the troops want to come home,the families want them home and so do i,but it doesnt help morale when all they hear is of them being withdrawn everytime 1 of their number is sadly killed or injured...if they come home now they will view it as defeat...and an insult to their brave comrades who have died and been maimed in the conflict..this must be carried on until the bitter end,whatever the end maybe...

All very noble reasons I am sure, and easily said from one's computer chair, but it would be refreshing to hear some constructive suggestions.

youngmafbog is concerned that if we withdrew "can you just imagine the lefty rants on this site alone", a very frightening prospect I am sure, but nothing we don't harmlessly encounter almost daily.

Perhaps you would have a different perspective if you where face down in the dust, sweat covering your whole body, with the weight of your body armour and packs bearing down on you, and red hot missiles whistling all around you.

Have you ever considered a job on the Afghanistan Tourist Board?

Gromit There will come a time that the British will obviously have to come out, why won't this be classed as a defeat, but perhaps we could also class it a redeployment?

The difference between WW2 and Afghanistan, we were fighting a uniformed force, and we knew what the hell we were fighting for.

For one thing it is not an invasion, we are there at the request of the Afghanistan Government, and if it was left to them we would be an unpaid defence force for their Government until all eternity.

This obviously cannot be allowed to go on, so we have to come out at some time, either we remove our hands from behind our backs and go out in force to rid Afghanistan of the Taliban, regardless of who may get hurt in the process, or we remain indefinitely.

Why can't we send the under 25 year old soilders to Haiti or somewhere like that and let the older ones go to the 'hot spots' I am not saying their lives are worth less but I find it heart breaking to read of an 18 year old who has lost his life - what life at that age
