Its a breeding ground for Al Qaeda and could in future pose a danger to either our shipping or stretch further to infiltrate or attack the UK?

Al qaeda have probably now left Aghanistan and after fermenting trouble have either moved to Pakistan, Somalia or Yemen. We are now fighting lost shadows in Afghanistan or is our reason for being there changed once again?

Invasion ! We didn't even stop half a dozen pirates kidnapping the yacht couple and they were only 10m away.
It's too limited in the oil department?
our soldiers are busy already?
Not a lot of oil in Somalia.
I agree with the above post.
Anybody know the latest news about the yacht couple, they must be going crazy?
Actually Somalia is not that big a problem in the grand scheme of things anyway. What with us and the Americans killing Muslims every day in Afghanistan, just about every Islamic country has training facilities for jihadists to fight the evil west.

Only yesterday it emerged on Wikileaks that Pakistan has been supplying the Taliban with weapons and training to kill American and British soldiers – and Pakistan are supposed to be our allies!

Our politicians never refer to the ongoing war in Afghanistan as a religious war. But that is precisely how the Taliban see it and how many millions of Muslims all over the world (including this country) see it too.
Trt – It all gone very quiet. The last I heard, both of them were so emotionally distraught (as they are being kept in separate locations and cannot contact one another) that they were bordering on complete psychological (and physical) breakdown.
We will invade Somalia , when Cameron & Co realize that there is money to be made in scrap metal - i.e all those hijacked ships .
It must be a real shame for conspiracy theorists that there's no oil in Afghanistan.

They end up having to rely on contorted arguments about supposed oil pipelines and minerals.

The reason that nobody's invaded Somalia is

a) Iraq and Afghanistan are already so expensive
b) No public appetite for it - political suicide

But Somalia is a major problem and Yemen is getting that way
because starting a chain of tescos is not viable in somalia
What? no Tescos in Somalia
Invade Somalia? Isn`t Somalia invading us? (there are a lot of them around here)
For those with such short memories, we have already been there, done that, and had to ru away.

anyway, it is good to learn of Rov that there are no al Qaeda left in Afghanistan. But those goat shepherds seem to be putti g up one he'll of fight though.
Mo Farah won a gold medal for GB yesterday.........he's from Somalia?
/// Invade Somalia? Isn`t Somalia invading us? (there are a lot of them around here) ///

Yes that is true, if we invade Somalia it will only create yet another branch of the 'Enemy Within'.
I have just read about Mo Farah on the BBC website - well done to him he is a credit to himself and our asylum policy
I suppose if one can run that fast there's no danger of being caught by the UKBA and returned home again.
lol buildersmate..........I think he's been here since he was about 10 years old....
I just knew someone was going to say that

Remember the US Cole which was attacked some years ago and 16 US sailors killed from terrorists operating from the Yemen. Its not the hijacking of ships from Somalia thats the real problem but Al Qaeda operting from a country thats ungovernable and which they take over. Just look at the Geography of the region. Yemen is a short distance across the Red Sea from Somalia. Between thiese countries the majority of the world's shipping has to pass most notably to the Gulf from the Suez Canal.
