The postman has just posted some election leaflets through my door, among them was one for the BNP.

Their pledges were, /// bring our troops home from Afghanistan, saying "our brave troops have been sent to die in an unwinnable war which has nothing to do with Britain or British interests".///

/// Put a stop to immigration.///

/// Raise the weekly pension to £150, the £18 billion Lab-Lib-Con give China and India to 'adapt' to non-existent Climate Change should go to our pensioners.///

Can't see anything wrong with these points, but I am sure there are plenty out there that will disagree.

But please let's have facts, not scary stories one has heard about the BNP.

Well here we have it the BNP general election manifesto at-a-glance:

Can't see much wrong with it, providing you are not a Muslim.

If any one of the 3 main parties had come up with a manifesto such as this, they would be sure to get in.

Any points you don't like?

It is interesting to note that the media have to box very carefully when reporting the main 3 parties at election time.

They have to be seen to be non-bias and not to give any party an advantage by the way they report their campaigns.

This it seems does not apply when it comes to the BNP.
Rov1200, is that the same England supporters that wrecked half of Europe?

Out of the 10 worst football violence episodes, England teams were only in three of therm..
I'll ask again, were the Taliban right about us?
I think the BNP are good,
they're the only party that hasn't been caught taking expensises
The manifesto looks good on the surface and some ideas are pretty sensible but as I understand it the BNP basically want the UK to be a authoritarian, totalitarian country with no free speech or any criticism by media even though the Press Complaints Commission exists for that and everything is blamed on Immigrants although immigration figures do not concord with that.

And the BNP wants to bring troops back from Afghanistan although the Taliban harbors terroists who bring terroism to our land but that doesn't matter as we are here and they are there and too far away.

They want to leave the EU and renegotiate NATO so basically leaving us without Allies in a new unstable world of terrorism, however they are going to raise the Defence spending by 1% - that would really come in use without Allied support.

They reviewing all Citizenship granted under Labour despite 2nd generation being integrated as british now. The Community Award Scheme is nicked from Conservative.

And they want to restore Civil Liberties by getting rid of Human Rights Act? And do I understand they want to legalize guns? - What like Amercia?

So they want to isolate Britain to the outside world as it is an Island thereby also destroying the economy as there will be no foreign investment, world wide trade deals, we don't even get a say on environmental regulation.

The BNP are the British Party that will destroy the British reputation and yet they seek to teach 'civility and courteousness' in schools. Need to go deeper to find truth.
Oh my God another long answer, what is it with me? I shall try and stick to short responses.
( with no free speech or any criticism by media )
Did the BNP say that or did you read it in the UNITE handbook
I'm glad you liked that film Seadragon, did you work out why the teacher got sent away for so long?
The narrator does tell you....
Itchy, p.43 of the Manifesto places the media more answerable under democratic control and they seem to have a problem with foreign ownership of the media but then the whole Manifesto is anti-foreign. Ironic really considering it is entitled - 'Democracy, Freedom, Culture and Identity.'

I didn't even highlight the racist elements that much, have you seen Sky News this morning if not, Griffen has been secretly filmed saying Barking is like Central Nairobi and one of his senior party members is filmed saying.....'Once they go with blacks, they're part of the black tribe.....Wicked, horrible, stupid. I've seen it many, many times.' - This is after a woman told him she would not vote BNP.

Here's another contradiction for you - 'The BNP will repeal all laws designed to suppress our traditional right to freedom of speech including those relating to race relations and religion.' p.38 And yet they are stating withdrawal of the Human Rights Act.
Everton - not really the place for a long discussion here but yes I picked up the Mao political undertones of the film stated by the narrator. It's evident he is politically involved and can't leave without permission, later escaping and being punished for it. I remember the persecution of artists, intellectuals and activists from other reading but this was drowned out by the romance of the story.

Also I couldn't figure out why his son could not tie his father's body covered with a cloth, on a wooden like sledge carried against his back. My daughter who was ill and off school that day laughed when we realised that he was to be placed in a thick wooden coffin lifted by numerous people and followed by many others. She said she would bring me back on a sledge with just a cloth when I die. I told her she is not invited.
Sorry Oldgit, I know this is a serious thread but how can anyone take the BNP seriously when they come out with comments such as those secretly filmed? That's why they are not given much airtime. They actually do a good job themselves of standing out as a racist party.

It is such a shame that Britain has a racist/fascist party who is so bent on destroying Britain's reputation has a tolerant and advocater of free-speech nation.
I took it that he got denounced as a rightist because he taught the children from his own lesson plan rather than the approved party one.
I feel that the journey home for his father was part of what the Chinese used to call "the correct observation of the rites" which was why he needed all the pomp and ceremony.
It's a brave film for China, to suggest that Mao made mistakes, to suggest that reform and opening is leading to personal disenchantment, it looks like a return of neo-traditionalism is becoming a vogue in some parts of Chinese society.
( with no free speech or any criticism by media )

So i was correct they did not say that.
AOG

'Once they go with blacks, they're part of the black tribe.....Wicked, horrible, stupid. I've seen it many, many times.'

Do you agree with those sentiments?

Griffin is also openly against mixed relationships, claiming that Britain would become a 'mongrel nation' if blacks and Whites were to continue to 'inter-breed'.

Do you think he may be missing something positive? Perhaps if we had more families with bi-racial children, the likelihood of racism and bigotry rearing it's ugly head will decrease?
Itchy there is a word - Implication - just like although I can't say with authority as I haven't been through whole of Manifesto but I figure the words 'racial hatred' are not present there yet that is what is implied.

Also what I don't understand is, is that out of all the other things stated you only identify free speech? - None of the other issues bothered you?
What is the difference then between Ukip and the BNP?

Like your pic jatte.
Everton - I interpreted the film differently from you, I saw his political activities as being away from the village in the city and essentially keeping the village non-political but the underlying political tones present. For that reason I was alittle disappointed that at no time did they ponder on his character much or show the film from his point.

And the pomp and ceremony I figured only related to him as the appreciation of all those who he taught which is why the money is returned at the end. I think you looked deeper into the historical aspects of the film than I did who saw it as a film that only subliminely touches on aspects (political). This is quite interesting.
Sorry askyourgran, I don't know much about the UKIP as I am not a side party voter. You would have to look through their Manifesto to see the difference.
SeaDragon i was right then.

( I don't know much about the UKIP as I am not a side party voter. )

why not make up a few things like you have done for the BNP.
