I am a non-smoker of a good few years now but that doesn't make me 'better' than the smoker it's all about choice and it annoys me when I see the exaggerated arm waving by the ex smokers specifically, I digress though...
all of this stopping smoking in public places like bus shelters and they will soon try for parks etc, they hammer the smoker and the drinker which is normally the working man, with tax after tax, but if they do get their way and people quit en masse, the Government will suffer in lost tax revenue big time!
I don't agree with anyone 'fagging' it in front of their kids, but that lot in Westminster are a pious bunch of hypocrites who are happy to take the taxes from the smokers

hello maizie...lol
they will never have an outright ban, they couldn't afford it !
I think you are right Joy - the Government know there will always be people who can not do without fags and drink, so they will always be in a win win situation as regards duty on these items.

it's just so hypocritical of that bunch in there to hit the working man, and I wonder who will police the banning of smoking in your own vehicle?
they will never have an outright ban, they couldn't afford it !

I agree with not smoking in enclosed spaces, I agree about not smoking in the car when children are present...But after that they should shut up.

vibes I am with you all the way there that is why I don't smoke, but the tax they rake in from the smoker is phenomenal

Question Author
yes but is the Government who will get the revenue
but just how can you 'stop' someone smoking in his own car vibes?
I'm a long time smoker and I realise the dangers, but it is too late to quit now as any damage has been done and will not be undone by quitting the habit.
It's the same tired formula every Budget, hammer the drinker, smoker, motorist and anything else the least well off in our society enjoy. The rich do not feel the pinch but us the 'poor' always bear the brunt of any increases the Govt see fit to impose.
duh!!!

my sentiments exactly red, you don't see many 'toffs' in your local pub more like to be in their private club in Marylebone or somewhere
Vibrasphere? do you enjoy the occasional drink? Many of us do, but that is death peddling too! Too many hypocrites just being selective on 'peddled death'. What makes one form of PD better than another?

Question Author
going to the pub costs a small fortune now, so would it be better if we sat at home, couldn't smoke or afford a drink...waht a boring bloody existence that would be eh?
Question Author
vibes that would be even more costly, it hasn't helped with drugs
Must be really lovely in your monochrome world vibrasphere

Question Author
vibes that is never going to happen, they rake too much money in from it, I see this as more of sheer hypocrisy from Westminster more than the evils of the weed
No, Vibrasphere, I don't know you - but my point is, why is smoking viewed as more of a killer than other legal substances ie alcohol?
