Munir Hussain released today, he was protecting his home and family, while I don't agree with vigilante groups taking the law into their own hands, this guy was pushed to the limit, yes what he did was wrong but it wasn't premeditated either.
So many times have we heard of giving people the right to protect their homes but no politician puts his money where his mouth is. Now the perpetrator of the crime is also launching a campaign to be released, or his lawyers are because of brain damage he suffers from after being attacked by Mr Hussein, the law needs to be made clearer and help the victim more than it does.

Living on one's own tends to dilute one's sympathy for people who ...

... break into homes and tie up the occupants.
Ankou ...

Maybe, but having someone flick elastic bands at your nose is ...

... REALLY annoying !!!
Question Author
I just wonder, if the perpetrator hadn't received such an unfortunate assault leaving him with a fractured skull and brain damage, how many people would have viewed this.
I would think many would have been delighted in Mr Hussein being set free
yes, i would be in shock, but i would be thankful that i and my family were still alive and able to identify them later perhaps.

the thought of chasing them, perhaps being killed/injured in the process or being sent to jail and leaving my wife and children to fend for themselves in my mind is not worth it.
bobbi, if he had chased him down and held him until the police arrived he would probably be a hero. fact is, to me he became a violent thug, not much different to the original criminals really. and that smells bad.

ps Ankou, if that be the case about Miss Klass, she should have been done for wasting police time !
Is it okay to break into people's properties ?

No !

Do we say ... "It's kind of okay to burgle people, and you shouldn't be punished too much?

Or do we say ... "It's wrong. Do not do it ... EVER!"

NEVER !!

Never ever !!!

Zero Tolerance.

The bottom line is ...

We all know Mr Hussain was wrong.

We would all secretly do the same thing.
Question Author
I grudgingly have to agree Ankou, he did take the law into his own hands which is very wrong, but I stil think there should you should be able to defend your property better, by that of cause without a sustained attack on the criminal
i think i made it clear that i would not bring myself to bludgeon someones head in - as much as that thought might cross my mind.
i have more to lose by not being with my family.

and yes bobbi, she should have done for being a waste of space.
Question Author
the laws set out on exactly what you are allowed, are vague and tend to favour the intruder anyway
I agree with Ankou. I can understand the man's anger and can understand him doing what he did, but it became more than self defence. Actually I think his sentence was too long because the crime against him family must have been horrific and it wasn't premeditated, but he deserved to be sentenced and punished to some degree. We can't take the law into our own hands. Where should a line be drawn?
thats a media myth
The laws aren't vague Bobbi. The law allows you to defend yourself, but not to seek revenge.
I agree that Hussain broke the law.......but what annoyed me most was that the bloody robber was let off scot free......and lo and behold he's offended again....
Question Author
yes he has craft, which begs the Qs, How can he do this after sustaining such an injury ?

Question Author
I hope I never have to put in that position kunni
but thank you for clarifying it
i would be interested in the views of those who favour the return of capital punishment, since if they were the victim and acted as munir, would they be content to potentially face that judgement themselves..... ?
Question Author
another debate perhaps Ankou ?
