I agree with the Councillor Jenny Stratton here when she said - 'Everyone has the right to protest, but its not a very tactful place to do it.' Freedom of speech is such in this Country that Islam4UK can protest at the loss of Muslims lives during the Afgan War but they are not doing themselves any favours by choosing Wootten Bassett.

And maybe it is at this point that peaceful British Muslims who oppose terrorism (being that Islam4UK has links) should voice their condemnation at the lack of respect shown to the Soldiers who have died in the conflict? Maybe then non-muslims could start to differeniate the Muslims from the Radical Muslims?
I say let them. It'll show them up to be the vile, spiteful bigots their religion produces.

If they feel persecuted now, they'll reap the whirlwind from the British public over this one. If you want to run an Islamic protest at the deaths of Muslims and not expect a backlash, do it in an Islamic country.
as a great intellectual I think they are just taking the p!ss...............and many of our liberal loony lefties will take their side if the march is banned................
We have a limited right of free speech - emphasis on the word limited

It doesn't encompass a lot of things

Free speech is not a defence against libel, broadcasting official secrets or encitment to racial hatred just to name a few.

You also do not have the right to protest anywhere you like - however there is a precident.

This is an awful lot like the Orange marches through Catholic areas of Northern Ireland don't you think? And these were generally permitted with police escort.

Or is this different because the boot is now on the other foot?
Jake they stopped them at Drumcree

at this rate, there will be jsut about enough properly british people in the country who are fed up with this kind of behaviour to vote for the bnp who'll sort them out.

How dare they come to our country and then protest agaisnt our actions.
not saying that i agree with most of what the bnp says, but the true brits might be driven to suport them to sort the middle east out.
Yes I believe they should demonstrate. If we believe in freedom of speech then we must allow them to exercise their rights as citizens of this country to publicly put forth their views. Let them raise their placards. Let them shout their slogans.

Let them make complete tw*ts of themselves. Let them do so in the full view of the media.

I would encourage every person in Wootton Bassett not to engage them in any way. Do not give them the satisfaction of an emotional response.

Let them shout and scream and behave like little children who can't have their own way.

Let them have their say and watch them disappear in puff of their own putrid smoke.
"Is said" to have links to extremists.
This is pathetically poor journalism.

I am sorry but this is ENGLAND in Great Britain, Not Iraq or Afghanistan or any Muslim Country, If they
don't like our hospitality or way of life then they should GET OUT of this country,
We all have the power to change this at the upcoming general election, perhaps if we all voted BNP then
the powers that be might just get the message that ordinary British folk have just about had enough of
our country being hijacked.
Zacmaster, I think "invitement" is the best malapropism I have heard in years! Get it into the OED. I love it!
Will they demonstrate in the fashion depicted on television news reports . . . . chanting, torching cars and firing rifles into the air . . . .?
To sew up my feelings..I am fed up with all parties, why aren't they listening to the Electorate, I am also pee-d off with not being able to discuss my feelings of annoyance and the unfairness of what is happening to us who want our country back...without being branded Racist !!!
While I fully understand it is a minority of Muslims who are hell bent on our destruction and are aiming for a Muslim State here, why can't we have a voice too? if you so much try to have a point of view, immediately, you are labelled, protest and the abuse starts, freedom of speech has been taken away from us and handed over to the fundamentalists free gratis, I do feel very sorry for anyone's child, brother, sister, Dad, Mum, niece and nephew, who comes back to us for repatriation in a wooden box, that would include Muslim, Jew and Gentile, they would be afforded the same degree of respect from the dear folk of Wooten Basset, so this march of hatred...should be banned.

Bobbi ♥
VERY WELL SAID Bobbisox, Like I said, we all have the chance to change it soon, USE IT !!!
An excellent response Bobbisox my feelings exactly but couldn't find the right words to express them.
if the march goes ahead every man woman and child in Wootten Bassett need to stay at home on the day.close every shop.if there is NO ONE out in tjhe streets to see them then it will be a very empty victory for them
