Isn't it now time, the rest of this macabre tourist attraction, was now bulldozed?

nothing would be good enough in your eyes. I'm only a woman anyway, since when did my opinion count for much? lol.

you spoilt my day yesterday. I'm done here.
sqad, you didn't use the word hate. but you did say your sentiments accord with....

"hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group".

hpstility can take many forms from an internal inactive dislike to outright war. i didn't report your post i think it should have been left for all to see and if only to stop the free speech soapboxers. as mr veritas said, its quite sad really.
sara....don't be silly your contributions are valuable.

ankou...Mr V went a little further than you have suggested, he described my views as "ignorant".....I would have liked him to explain further.

AB is sailing into dangerous waters if free speech is reported and banned, although I agree that personal insult should be well monitored. BUT

A person who is anti-semetic.....should he/she be banned?
A person who is an atheist....should he/she be banned?
A person who is a racist....should he or she be banned?
A member of the BNP.....should he/she be debate is lost if there is only one point of view allowed.

I have never seen so many posts deleted as I have in the last 6 months, some to the credit of the ED but mostly now, fatuous.
Question Author
It seems that the original subject of my post has been hijacked by some over the banning of Sqad's post.

Having not read what Squad said, I cannot say whether or not the ED was right to remove it.

What I feel I must say however is, if we are to have a self appointed censor such as sara3 on this site, who can convince the ED to remove anyone's opinions just because she personally disagrees with them, then perhaps the ED should also post on what grounds he/she removed the post.

Regarding the anti-Semitism debate, would it be wrong to criticise the Jews for the treatment they dish out to the Palestinians?

Just a thought, I don't have a view either way, I also don't wish to be classed as anti-Jewish as well as racist and homophobic, by those that consider that one should never be allowed to criticise certain groups, no matter what they have done.
anti-Semitism is more than just a dislike of Jews, anotheroldgit. I thought Sqad's comment was racist and therefore offensive.

for the record, I simply asked if stating one was anti-Semitic was acceptable as I thought it rather too harsh, and therefore unacceptable for such a forum, and I was quite shocked by such an admission from an apparently intelligent poster. I didn't ask for it to be removed. if I had any clout on this site, we'd hardly be listening to the nonsense you usually spout, would we?

I posted a link to a brief description on Anti-Semitism for Sqad to state whether they were his views (as I thought perhaps we had a misunderstanding), and the lower end was just (just!) a hatred of Jews. Sqad evidently viewed my link and agreed that they were his views. if he said he hated Blacks, Chinese, Pakistanis, etc, I would have been equally shocked and dismayed, and would have asked whether such a post was acceptable.

I am not in the slightest bit interested in any religion, but I do believe in treating people with respect unless they prove unworthy as an individual.
sara,

The best way to show up people with ridiculous or bigoted views is to respond to them, and publicly trounce them on forums like this. It's easily done.

If we delete them or close the debate down, they feel like martyrs. When they are in fact just pricks.
We shouldn't expect any section of society to be automatically exempted from criticism. Whilst I wouldn't use the same terminology as Quinlad, I agree that the best way to discredit opinions that oppose your own is to expose them to scrutiny. Whilst we can stop people saying what they want to say, we can't stop them thinking as they do unless we challenge them with reasoned argument. Censorship merely prevents people from airing their views - it doesn't change those views.
