British Gas is on track to increase the amount of money it makes from its customers by 43 per cent this year, as it benefits from lower wholesale energy costs and high consumer bills.

Woohoo! Another one of our assets becomes a privatised success story!

Don't Gromit...........I must admit that for the first time in my life I dread getting my energy bills....
Couldn't they reduce their prices? I'm sure they put them up quickly enough when wholesale costs increased.
It was never an asset gromit, like most nationalised industries it was a mill stone. The public sector cannot run a pi55 up in the proverbial. The most amazing thing is that we actually got dosh for it!
But yes they are taking the pi55 with prices currently. Trouble is the whold Gas/lecky business has been allowed to become a cartell. The regulator pawned their teeth volutarily a few years ago and since then the energy mob have had a party. We need the regulator back and some proper competition.
Its when they make losses is the time to worry and when the lights go out.
could this be down to answerbanks energy provider comparison promotion last year ? it always seemed to recommend british gas.
There is probably only a handful of people making the most of these profits as well.
Well since Noo Labour have been in power for so long must be down to them.

Stick that in your Muselaei and choke on it Gromit
Luckily we have the choice of going to a different supplier, just that so many people still never have.

7% profit margins? can't see them getting that much lower anyway. Only the larger supermarkets can risk staying in business at those rates.
