Ahmadinejad is not popular among the urban middle classes and the intelligentsia, so they will always gripe about losing to someone they view as a peasant. His popularity is with the poor rural people who still make up the majority in Iran.

I don't like his anti western rhetoric and anti semitism, but I believe he wants to do the best for the majority of his people. I certainly don't believe he is the bogey man the west portrays him as.

As for the USA and Israel doing anything militarily against Iran, I very much doubt it as Iran is a powerful force to be reckoned with in the region, far more powerful than say, Iraq.

and would be unlikely to do anything of the sort with Israel. That need not stop the Israelis doing it themselves and hoping they'll get away with it.
