Did any one else see the Andrew Marr(AM) show this morning?
I was very impressed by the way Peter Mandelson(PM) turned AM over. It really was a man against a boy. Say or think what you like about PM he is one of the most able politicians around today. Perhaps he should be the next Prime Minister?

I saw a partial repeat later and I agree. I admit I'm not his biggest fan but he's undoubtedly one of the most competent politicians of any shade.

In fact it could be fair to say that in this climate of mistrust of MPs, and notwithstanding some of Mandie's own misdemeanours in the past, poor old Andrew Marr did seem a bit like putty in his hands. A political "heavyweight" if ever there was one.

I assume England won the cricket. I watched up to over 10 and then stopped. It's amazing what an English team can achieve with the assistance of some foreigners.
Scotland ended up where they deserve. South Africa look good for the overall win.
Don't ask me anything about cricket. I know as much about it as flying to the moon!
How can he be the next prime minister? Even though to all intents and purposes he's now deputy prime minister, and is wielding an enormous influence upon what happens in this country, no one elected him.

Well he'd have to become leader of the Labour party. This would mean resigning his peerage for a start. I wouldn't bet against him if he set his mind to it. There isn't much quality of (labour)opposition to him.
I am not sure if it is necessary for the Prime Minister to be a sitting MP. If it is he would need to get elected to a constituency. Again I can't see that being beyond him
People have short memories. With his track record he'd never get my vote.
Well he must be pretty good, having committed mortgage fraud without a visit from the rozzers (you or I would've been behind bars) and then becoming a passport prossie with the Hindujas.

For all his ability, he is a slimy odious creep who is interested solely in advancing himself in any way he can.

As a result he'd fit in well in the Commons and should be returned there forthwith. He only needs to find a safe Labour set into which to be parachuted and he'll romp home.
New Judge

he would have to renounce his peerage, and an egotist like Mandy would never do that.
True, Gromit, I never thought of that.

Mind you, for the "comeback man" this should present no problem. He renounces his Peerage, gets elected to the Commons again, becomes (naturally) a senior government minister, is caught with his fingers in the till, resigns (for the third time), gets a post in Europe and, after a suitable period of penance, is re-appointed to the Lords so that he can hold another ministerial post. (After all, let's not allow a trifling issue such as being unelected get in the way of a brilliant career) .

Easy Peasy!
