I was just wondering if all the people that felt Tony Blair did not do enough to save Ken bigley ( I believe he did all he could ), Are now going to be saying the same about Margaret Hassan if the worst was to happen, The kidnapers demands are that Tony Blair to withdraw troops from Iraq and also the release of all female prisoners and her charity CARE international to close its offices. These demands can not be met, but are people going to be still saying the same that Tony Blair could have saved her if the worst was to happen.

I don't know about Tony Blair or other people, but I care about her. In fact, even more than Ken Bigley, because she went out there to help people, not just to make money. What do we learn from this? Simple. If you are a Westerner, do not go to Iraq, not even to help the Iraqis. Simple as that. Poor Maggie is for the saw (I don't say the chop, because her captors are not even humane enough to chop, the savages will saw her head off).
These latter day Lady Bountifuls are the equivalent of Victorian dames going out to put trousers on black bottoms. If they get involved in these hotspots they have only got themselves to blame. They should be home in surburbia having tea and cucumbers with the vicar and not getting involved in situations which they do not have a clue about. Tony Blair has got brain damage so in his case it is understandable.
I don't want to appear totally unsympathetic but Mrs Hassan chose to live her life in Iraq. She was married to an Iraqi, and I think she had an Iraqi passport. While I do feel sorry for her and her family, I do not for a minute think that Tony Blair should cave in to, or even consider, demands from her kidnappers. I also wonder how much was done to rescue Ken Bigley. I can assure everyone of something - there was a lot more being done than any of you will ever hear about.
One thing is clear, we can't give to these demands. Give in to one and we'll have a hundred next week. I'm sure everything has been done that could be done but the only thing that will save her is some humanity on the part of her captors. I'm not a fan of Blair but he's in an impossible position, it's not his fault if she dies

The problem is you simply can't reason with these animals - they think they are fighting a jihad: they are not - they are scumbags of the highest order.

I find the " release all women prisoners"  - as if part of some chivalric code - to be a bit rich considering the Islamicists have got a few themselves. Kind of like the ALF abducting a rabbit and threatening to behead it ... unless all laboratory rabbits are released.

donkey..i believe tony blair has been told to keep a low profile on the kidnap of margaret as he is only making things worse for her,,with his constant bleating of we will not negotiate..people will blame the horrid man as he was the one that took our forces to war. if he had held a national vote on it then our forces would not be in iraq..we are supposed to have freedom of speech and our thoughts should count but the man is just an arrogant ass that thinks he knows best.. he has put many lives in danger  mullein

mullein, Im not saying your right or wrong but i am just wondering where you get the figures of if we had of had a national vote on the war, we would not be there.
dear donkey.. this week i went to town on a bus i live in a working class town. and the bus was full of people that probably vote labour..anyway to cut a long story short they give away free newspapers on the bus and the front page was all about iraq,, anyway one person started moaning out loud about us being in iraq and before you could blink the whole bus seemed to be moaning.. if they had a choice of money spent on war in iraq or money spent on our hospitals their would be no competition. the majority of people are against the war in all political partys..so yes tony blair the warmonger will get the blame.. the majority of people against it probably did not go on anti war marches due to other comitments, the thing i was trying to say to you was we dont get a choice we are like sheep that have to follow the blair regime, decisions such as war and death sentances should be put to a national vote..i dont have any numbers to throw at you but just listening to the man on the street gives you a general idea..mullein
