How is the US able to claw back the bonuses of these failed bankers when here in the UK Fred the Shred and others just laugh at us?

It appears the recipients of the bonuses at AIG returned their bonuses voluntarily. Maybe, the concept of honour, once a proud tradition of the British, can now only be found overseas.
Yes as Julnar says, the septics have not clawed them back according to the article, the bonusees "agreed" to return them, presumably they had enough dosh to be going on with!

Really! I believe his bonus was stitched up with directors who then also got the push. I'd be surprised if he manages to get to retirement age especially after yesterdays news about smashing his car and property. He is only 50 so his pension paid now can only frustrate those who have lost their homes and jobs because of him There are a lot of disgruntled people out there aiming to get there pound of flesh.
