We are going to go to New Zealand later in the year and just wondered which was the best route to take. We were thinking of going via Singapore and staying over for a couple of days. Has anyone been and is this a good option. Thanks.

I would recommend going via the US, purely and simply becuase you get extra weight for your luggage. We stopped off in San Francisco going out and Singapore coming back. The cost difference on the ticket was negligible. I'm so jealous have you been to NZ before? It is beautiful!! So many places to visit there!
I agree with T&S but not for weight mainly due to jet lag; by going west you don't get it for some strange reason (or if you do it's very slight) and continue going west on homeward journey. You might fancy a stop off in Fidji, it's really beautiful.
