My 5 year old son was admitted to hospital before Xmas with very high blood pressure. Various scans showed nothing. A doctor at Great Ormond Street now suspects a pheochromocytoma. We are awaiting various test results and have another scan booked in 2 weeks time. Has anyone else had or heard of anyone with the condition? What are your experiences?

Pheochromocytoma....benign tumour ot the adrenal glands which are glands situated just above each kidney. They produce various hormones, one of which is ADRENALINE. The symptoms are facial flushing, sweating, palpitations and intermittent high BP. Diagnosis is by MRI scan and testing the urine for breakdown products of the hormone. Treatment is surgery.
That summary is of the top of my head but Google it for more indepth detail.
Good luck and don't worry.
