Well, we all had a cut in hours in Sept (around 3.5 each) but I get mine back as of 5th January so thankfully I haven't felt any difference

Have noticed food shopping has risen in price but not a lot TBH - I buy lots of offers :)

I hope it hasn't affected anyone too much
yep getting xmas prezzies dirt cheap bt bf laid off but straight into another job thankfully
Yes, a significant decrease in work and downsizing of my team due to it.

A lot of friends have lost their jobs and haven't much of a chance of getting anything decent for the forseeable future.
My best friend has been out of work for two months. My girlfriends dad and brother both work at the same place, they have had there working week reduced to 3 days.

I used to spend 50 a week on food shopping about 8 months ago. Now I spend about 70 a week and that is with stuff knocked off my normal list (treats like puddings and biscuits and such)

Im a refuse collector so luckily i wont be out of a job, as long as people keep chucking stuff out.

This time last year I had about 500 in tips off the general public, now with only a week left until I break up ive only got 100.

Its hitting everybody hard I think, They have dropped interest rates so I would imagine that even the rich who may live off interest of there money are also "suffering".

When you think about it logically there are people who are paid by goverments to watch and report on money, to think that they never seen this coming.........nah I cant believe that for a second. This reccesion is man made.

A very scarey movie to watch that explains how money works is called "Zeitgeist Addendum"

You can watch it free on google video. After watching that you will understand that there is no excuses why we are here.

No, I haven't curbed spending at all. A few of my workmates have commented that they have got a lot of bargains for their kids for Christmas, in electrical goods and toys and so I suppose they have benefitted.

we are trading at about + 9% on last year which is a surprise, but there have been more host led promotions this year, especially the last 2 months. After Christmas my dept is being reduced by roughly a third but that is because we are offloading the budget range onto the host store which means we lose the headache cos it is labour intensive and only sells well on reduction. that would have happened anyway because the company are re-launching Coast shoes after christmas.

apart from that nothing is different, except petrol has gone down and so travel is cheaper, but the parking is going up.
yes, i was made redundant a month ago after 21 years service. total amount of employee,s 198, total amount of redundancies 129.
This is a reply to docspock.

True I get paid to empty peoples bins. I however, apart from the week after xmas DO NOT get paid to take any rubbish that is outside of your bin.

The rules of my employment state that if a wheelie bin lid is more than 1/4 inch open then I do not have to empty it. So the housholder has the choice of either reducing there rubbish in there bin for the following fortnight and in the meantime take there rubbish elsewhere. Or pay the council 30 to come and collect it.

So both the other collector and the driver on my round decided we would take ALL rubbish, 52 weeks of the year.

I dont ask people to give me money, they do so because we do them a big favour. Not everybody piles rubbish up but occasionaly im sure you would have accrued more rubbish that needs taking one week.

So we do you a favour and take it for free, we dont ask people for money. We graciously accept gifts off appreciative people though.
