My Dad only ever listened to Irish and Country.
Two Words - I need say no more.....

Val. Doonican.
'Paint Your Wagon' film soundtrack...

24/7 in the car on the old 8 Track :-(
my dad hates music so we were never allowed music in the car. I would have loved to have listened to anything even val doonican
My mum hated music - with the exception of Jim Reeves, whose apperal i never understood until later on in life.

My dad professed to like singers like Paul Robeson and Gigli, whom I didn;t like then, and don;t now.

However, he did have the massively good taste to invest in LP's by Bob Newheart and Tony Hancock, which I can still quote verbatim today - not sure what that says about me though!

Because generations move on, I possess more music than my three daughters put together!
I would also add Englebert Humperdinck. But I must confess I did grow to love him - especially when he released Englebert Dance Tracks in the 90's. Tthat was actually a fab album,,,, quando quando quando quando....

We also had the dreaded "Sing something simple" on a Sunday evening.
Everyday I wake up, then I start to break up
Lonely is a man without love
Every day I start out, then I cry my heart out
Lonely is a man without love

Bring it on Englebert.
In fact this has put me in the mood - when I get home I'm going to put Englebert's Ultimate Collection on the cd full blast and have a lone kareoke sesh.

What a great way to start a weekend, thanks mum for the memories x
Another one of my Dad's 'favorites' (not this exact version)... the image of him doing a little 'hip jig' around the kitchen is burnt in to my brain forever...

Nat King Cole (wonderful) was my mum's choice, also Tom Jones - so no real problems.

Dad's only record was the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco - to this day one of my favourite pieces of music.

My Mum liked John Denver. I also like him.

Shut up snagged :-)
But is it more embarrassing to have parents who like the music you do, and sing along to all the latest hits?

Young people seem to resent me listening to current music, but if I want to play Gogol Bordello and Maroon 5 loudly in my car, I will.

Sad now listening to this again - Dad died young:o(
I was wondering when John Denver would appear ummmm lol
My Mum and Dad listened to Sarah Vaughn, Nat King Cole and Louis Armstrong.

So they had good taste. I like some of it but not all!

I like the modern smooth jazz.
Do you still listen to Christy Moore?
Ahem ...cough .....carrust , my sister was in the Black &White Minstrels :-)
When I was a child mother used to play her classical records and her Opera singer ones . There was one female soprano who was her favourite .
'Green Island'...
My mum loved the Peters & Lee song 'Welcome Home'. It was on repeat constantly for weeks. We couldn't complain though cos my grandad had just died & that song reminded her of him.
